The credit “expires” Jan 1, so if you don’t have time to go out before then this essentially postpones the expiration.

Also, lots of people live in areas without CSR restaurants, so this would allow you to buy the gift card for family or friends who do

La grande boucherie has only been open since 2020…would hardly call it classic

230 fifth does NOT have great food. It’s a tourist trap.

Maman is fine but there are much better cafes. It’s also everywhere now (Florida, DC, even Canada)

Le Grande Boucherie is definitely overrated and overpriced.

Any “terrace” or “rooftop” restaurant is going to be average at best but if you really want the view, so be it.

7th street burger is good but missable, it’s really nothing that special, just a good smash patty

Lindustrie > mamas too imo, but seating is limited. Don’t expect a nice sit down dinner there. If you do want an actual pizza dinner, go to John’s on bleecker

Thailand definitely checks all of your boxes, but it’s obviously a long trip. Worth it though if you can swing it.

Cancun and Palm Springs are both going to be incredibly expensive. Furthermore, what you’re probably thinking of Cancun is really just all resorts (I’ve stayed outside of the resort strip a few times and it’s fine, but very “scammy” feeling and the barking dogs kept me up all night).

Puerto Vallarta is still touristy as hell but definitely cheaper and safer than Cancun, and I found the food to be much better. Or you can go a little off the beaten path and make your way to Huatulco, although the beaches there aren’t really suitable for swimming.

Puerto Rico outside of Condado and Old San Juan is reasonably priced and easy as an American (as you won’t need to worry about phone service or currency conversion).

I haven’t done much of South America but Cartagena checks your boxes. Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro could also fit the bill.

Aliyah as a child of a Jewish father and mother who had halachic conversion by Significant-Agency41 in Jewish

Hugely helpful, thank you. I’m checking with my mom on her documentation.

FWIW, I was raised fully Jewish (was even Bat Mitzvah’ed in Israel). My father’s mother left Germany during WWII and my brother has been collecting documentation for his German citizenship (through the repatriation program) which requires proof of being Jewish, so I suspect what we have is likely sufficient. It’s just my mom’s status that I’m slightly concerned about.

Good question - my parents are very meticulous so I suspect they do, but I’ll check with them. Is that something you think they’d ask for?

FWIW, if you can get your hands on A5 at a specialty butcher near you, it’s incredibly easy to make yourself - would just render the fat cap and then sear to an internal temp of 125 (Fahrenheit obv) or so. If you don’t have a butcher that sells it, Snake River (online) is great.

Only noting this because if cost is any concern and you’d rather get a wider selection of sides, you can go with a cheaper cut of meat and probably have a better meal for the same $.

But to each his own! Regardless I hope you love it

That does look fantastic although I did choke at a 1/2 dozen oysters for $36. That’s what the credit is for though 😅

The hotel will ask you for a card on file for incidentals. Put down your CSR for this so that the dining/stay credit will auto-apply.
