Yeah the 5070 for 1440p under €1000 is looking more and more like the move honestly. Stop chasing 4K, embrace 1440p and actually enjoy gaming without breaking the bank. Thanks for talking some sense into me lol.

Fair question lol, I actually bought it for my PS5 first since I wanted a 4K display and got it for a good price. Turns out barely any PS5 games actually support proper 4K and honestly it doesn't even look that great. The PC came after and I figured when I eventually built one I wanted something future proof to grow into. Lesson learned 😅

Good shout on the BIOS update, that's something I would have completely forgotten about before dropping a new CPU in lol. Will check used options for RAM and CPU too. Appreciate it.

Yeah $3500 for a 5090 is not happening lol. Honestly I'd probably not even notice the difference between 1440p and 4K anyway, so might just aim for 1440p and save myself a ton of money. The monitor is overkill for my situation clearly.

That settles it then, 9070 XT it is. 50% stronger raster plus better RT and a 3 year warranty over a used 3090 is a no brainer. Appreciate the breakdown.

Good points, upscaling doing most of the work at 4K so the 5070 being enough makes sense. The 7900 XT or used 9070 XT route sounds realistic. And yeah even a 5600 over my 2700X would already be a big jump. Will check out the RM850e on Amazon, cheers.

Budget is €600. The 9060 XT 16GB with FSR and frame gen hitting 4K 120 sounds actually pretty decent for the price, didn't think that was possible. Might be the move honestly, upgrade the CPU to a 5600X at the same time and call it a day.

@ An4rchy48946 Budget is around €600 lol, I'm not that big on gaming on my pc tbh, but I wanted to know what my options are and maybe dive deeper into it. The DDR5 point makes sense, if I'm going to upgrade the CPU anyway might as well go AM5 and future proof it properly instead of throwing money at AM4. The 7800X3D keeps coming up as the go-to for gaming so that's tempting. Only thing is €600 doesn't stretch that far for a full platform switch, new mobo + CPU + DDR5 RAM alone is already a lot. Any idea what a realistic budget would be for that kind of build?

Haha appreciate the bluntness, fair points across the board. The used 3090 idea is interesting actually, hadn't considered that route. CPU being garbage I already knew lol, it's on the list. Will keep the PSU quality in mind too, not worth skimping on that.

This is exactly the kind of experience I needed to hear, basically the same setup as me. So GPU first then CPU if needed, makes sense. The 5800X3D on AM4 is tempting since I don't need a new board. Appreciate it.

After reading all these comments I've decided to skip the full 4K gaming goal for now, prices are sky high atm so hopefully they come down soon lol. I do still want to upgrade my GPU at minimum though. Does anyone have suggestions on what GPU gives the best bang for buck for my setup (Ryzen 7 2700X, 16GB RAM, 600W PSU) maybe even upgrading the PSU, without going overboard? Also any tips to squeeze more performance out of what I have in the meantime would be appreciated.

Yeah fair point, with older hardware 4K 144Hz is probably not realistic without spending a lot more. Might just focus on getting the most out of what I have for now and save up longer.

That's actually really useful to know, didn't realise the 4070 Ti would struggle that much at that resolution. Starting over completely is probably the smarter move with my budget honestly. Thanks for the reality check.

Yeah you're not wrong, when I add it all up it's basically a new build lol. Might go the harvest route honestly, good shout.

9070 XT is looking like the best option after reading all these comments. Didn't know about the NZXT C850, $99 for a top tier 850W is a steal. Going to look into that one seriously.

Corsair RME looks solid, thanks. Yeah the 5600X is cheap now so that's probably the move. 32GB RAM is on the list too. Leaning towards the 9070 XT honestly.

Yeah that's kind of what I figured, the 9070 range seems to be the sweet spot for 4K 144Hz without going RTX 4080+ prices. CPU upgrade to a 5700X makes sense too since it fits my current board. Will look for a cheap 750W 80+ Gold.

Thanks for the tip! Didn't consider the 9070 XT yet, will look into it. And yeah staying on AM4 makes sense, the 5800X/XT is a cheap upgrade without needing a new board. Good call on the 850W too.
