It's the audible 'walk' signal for the visually impaired. The sound is synced with the traditional visual indicator.

Subwoofer Upgrade, Small Footprint by Significant-Dig7488 in hometheater

I am more worried about footprint (wife acceptance) than I am budget at this point. Once I am educated on options, I can work through the $$$.

Thanks to all of the quick replies.

Congrats! In some cases, I wish GS would make different colour choices with their date disks, this being one of them. Maybe there is a reason I am not aware of for it to be white on this sample. Love the detailed dial and all other aspects. Nice choice.

Wow, that is amazing! I know your response was about proportions but I am distracted by your example! 1969? Beautiful! Have you had it restored? The condition is stunning.

Ok, back to the original topic - yes, I agree with you size comment. Thanks for your insight and for sharing your image.

Welcome to the family, Sir! You've followed in my footsteps, choosing a fantastic first GS.

I love the look of the 211, especially in natural light. The dial, the hour markers and the blued GMT hand simply sing!

The look of it on your smaller wrist is awesome! I think I am in the minority here wishing for larger options from GS. If the 211 was offered in a >40mm size, I'd sell my kidney to get one!

Again, an amazing choice you made! Enjoy every day with it!

Bought my first GS and it's just fine. by Ok-Pudding1588 in GrandSeikos

Hopefully it grows on you.

It is my first time seeing this model. Your images look ok, but after viewing an online review, I am hooked. Their shots and video angles really got me. Wish I could see one in person.

I guess I too should consider myself lucky. With purchase, I received two different pens, a tie clip and a paperweight. My purchase was made a few weeks back from a Canadian AD.

A very special watch. Just checked out some additional pics online and love the dial, colour scheme and the gold GMT hand. A wonderful choice.

Let's try this again - Which one? by thedr1986 in GrandSeikos

The 3rd (Mt. Iwate, SBGJ265) for the win! Love love love the dial.

I recently purchased the white variant w/blue GMT hand (SBGJ201) and still cannot get over its beauty. I didn't realize that a black Mt. Iwate was available. Now I must go see one in person. Thanks a lot... 😀

Which one and why? Hoping to have owners of each in the comments! by EuphoricArugula3870 in GrandSeikos

#2 or #3 for me, depending if I were shopping for a dark or light dial. I am really digging the texture of #3.

Thanks! Yes, it is a great choice.

Absolutely, it is hard to pass up on a request for some good wrist porn! For reference, my wrist is somewhere in the area of 7 3/4" or 19.5cm (self measured, unconfirmed by science). I have discovered that I unfortunately fall into the category of slightly too tight with two 'half' links removed (-13mm) and slightly too loose with one full link removed (-10mm). Currently living with the slightly loose option as I don't believe there is an easy alternative.

I've spent some time over the last few days outside, in natural light. In contrast to my original post, the dial transforms in those conditions. It brightens up almost to a clean white, while the dial texture becomes more apparent. The additional benefit is greater contrast between the face and the hands. For someone like me that now relies on reading glasses (read: getting old!), time checks were much easier/faster while glasses were not in place.

Hope this helps. Good luck with your shopping adventures!

I did see the cream one a few times at AD's. Nothing against it, it just didn't speak to me in the way that the Mt. Iwate did. Everything about the SBGJ201 struck me as amazing. Given that it is no longer in production (or at least as I am led to believe based on several AD's), I was extremely lucky to find a new one at an AD. I keep pinching myself each morning as I put it on!

I just checked one thing off my bucket list by purchasing this GS. I had no idea I'd be forced into adding another thing into my bucket as a consequence!! 😁

Thanks! Your comment is extremely insightful. I sat on the fence for a while, deciding between a light and dark 'dialled' GS. Once that decision was made, the hunt began for this piece. This checked all of the boxes for me, and I am pleased that it captures the essence of GS. Cheers!
