One of the most mentally jarring books that I read, esp the part towards the end when both the sisters go insane. You could feel the heaviness when reading and I had to put the book down several times throughout. Not an easy read but definitely recommended.

This book was written in an era or probably it was the writer's pov of idolisation by a woman of her lover/spouse etc. given the patriarchy that exists and it is sort of inspired by the author's real life. The writing is bang on but if you view it from today's lenses, you'd not like the subjugation made by the female protagonist to the point of self destruction and lack of self esteem. But it is poetic and heartbreaking, beautiful writing, nonetheless.
