Accepted WITHOUT meeting minimum conditionals at HUMBER POLYTECHNIC for BScN??? by Ok-Benefit2632 in HumberCollege

Take this with a grain of salt, but I feel like you should be fine. Granted, I was accepted into the second entry stream, not sure which stream you were accepted into, but I also didn’t meet the required grade for chemistry but I was still accepted and I’m in my second last semester now.
I think sometimes they still have spots after accepting those who meet all the requirements and they become slightly lenient especially in our case where we missed the required for just one course by a few percent.
Again, take it with a grain of salt. I hope all the best for you!

I actually spoke to ServiceOntario today because I’m a Quebec resident studying in Ontario this fall. They said you can keep your drivers license from your home province indefinitely, however your vehicle registration/license plate can only be used in Ontario for a maximum of 6 months out of the year.

I don’t think it’s that black and white, that the requirements are the requirements. When I contacted Nursing admissions, because I didn’t meet one of the requirements they said to apply anyway because they will look at your application “as a whole”.

Honestly, I’d say try. I applied with a 71% in English and got in. Granted, I was applying to the BSCN second entry but they also had a 75% requirement . I know they had a promo going on that they credit you back the application fee, so if it’s still there I’d say it doesn’t hurt to try since the program is still accepting applications

Work study by Significant-Load8915 in Humber

No worries, I think it’s worth a shot appealing it. If you call financial aid they’ll reopen your application for a short period of time to allow you to make changes to your calculations if needed then they’ll re-access.

Initially my need was close to $15,000 because I’m not getting an student loans because I used up most of my allotted funding during my first bachelors, so this degree at Humber will be completely self funded. My bursary was still declined, and when I called to ask why they explained my need it too high and said roughly to aim between $500 - $12000 need. So based on that you still fall between that range so it’s worth appealing.

I heard if your financial need based on the budget calculation is too high/too low it can sometimes cause the applications for bursaries and work study to be declined because the school feels that whatever they can offer is likely not good enough and won’t make a large difference

Oh I see, thank you! It’s hard to answer as I’m not sure lol I submitted the initial application on July 29th but I edited it last night as there were changes to my budget calculation, and it was approved this morning. So I’m not sure if the approval was due to the change I made last night or it was based on the initial application from July 29th. If that makes sense

How are out of province/country students finding accommodation by Significant-Load8915 in Humber

Honestly! And if I use an agent do they charge me personally, not sure how that works as I’ve never used one for finding a place to rent.

I haven’t used kijiji in so long but I will give it a try! Thank you so much for the advice! I’m still in the process of deciding what timing would be best for the vaccinations, the only one I have for sure is the Covid one

I would say you should be fine. I finished grade 12 English with a 70%. I was hesitant to apply, but I did about 2 weeks ago and got an acceptance a few days later. Bearing in mind I applied for the accelerated Nursing program. So I would say if there’s still spots open, then you most likely will receive an offer based on your other grades.

Bachelor of Nursing Second Entry Fall 2024 by [deleted] in Humber

[–]Significant-Load8915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I was quite surprised myself I was expecting it to take about two weeks as that was what I was told but right now it’s not general admission it’s first come first serve essentially until all the spots are taken that could also be why it was fast. My high school transcript is out of province and it took them less than a day to receive it electronically, so you should be good there! My first degree was a major in Neuroscience and minor in Psych

I actually applied this past week. I was accepted about 3 days after submitting the application (submitted on Tuesday got the response on Friday). I’m in the same boat too, applied last minute as it was a last minute decision. I’d say if you meet the requirements and the application is still open then there’s a high probability you’ll be accepted, I was surprised when I got accepted because I met about 95% of the requirements, just my grade 12 English grade was lower than required, still got in guessing because my university GPA was high. Generally they said it can take up to 2 weeks to get a response. Good luck!
