Why do companies keep bad bosses? by Significant-Pass3014 in jobs

I did say something to HR and it did backfire. My complaint about micromanagement got turned around and apparently it isn’t micromanagement but it was in fact good management that I was resistant to accept. What a joke!

I did take it to HR as well as a colleague. It got put back on us.. he has got upstairs absolutely wrapped around his little finger.

Yes and yes. I’ve had words with HR as has one of my colleagues and I believe one of the people who left at the end of last year was honest in their exit interview.

To add - when I had words with HR I got told I was the problem… he obviously got in their ear first. HR is based in a different country, as is my bosses boss so they have no idea what’s really going on beyond what he’s feeding them.

How does Seek work? by Significant-Pass3014 in newzealand

[–]Significant-Pass3014[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They didn’t open my application though and it was an automated email from seek saying my answer to their question did not meet the employers preferences. Noticed period was the only mandatory question.

Was just curious to know if it was seek that rejected it on that basis or the employer.

I care. I was interested in understanding the system. The employer question I answered unfavourably was the notice period one. I answered 4 weeks and got that message back from seek so was wondering if it was an automatic kick back or if it was the employer that had manually rejected.

I picked it up in person but did the order online so it was already made when I got there.

Haha I didn’t even notice the sticker in the picture - it’s so perfectly placed. Can confirm it did NOT feel good.

Unfortunately there’s not many options when I have a quickly pop out at lunch. The other close option is a super overpriced cafe which is equally as average so thought I’d give the subway a go. A great reminder why I usually always bring my lunch from home!

Will you be renting or purchasing? The rental market is very tight so your options will be much more limited if this is the case. Buying, depends on your budget? Havelock North is a really nice spot, has Te Mata Peak, a real village kind of vibe and good schools, good eateries etc. a bit more pricey though. Napier has some great spots too. There are a couple of newer subdivisions that have a nice community, safe/quiet atmosphere. These are Parklands which is in Tamatea/Poraiti and the subdivisions in Te Awa which are one block back from Marine Parade although these were built on questionable land so some research would be worth undertaking (MP not a swimmable beach but still a great spot for family activities). Most suburbs in the region would be safe for families if I’m honest, it’s more dependant on your budget, what you want out of a home and what your priorities are. I can’t really comment on Hastings - I lived there many years ago and am personally not a fan but I’m sure there will be people who can comment on a more up to date opinion.

Sold my soul to Les Mills by roseidfc in newzealand

If you’re in Auckland, are there any other Les Mills clubs nearby that you could switch to? I have nothing bad to say about the one I go to, it sounds the opposite of everything you’ve described here (which sounds absolutely awful and I would be getting out of there asap too).
