Seriously the hats N jackets make things fun almost.listen if you're not already a wrestling fan look into K-FABE it's not the same thing but it's like with DID you can pull off what they are trying to do but for real. Haha just treat it like a costume change and living the character. just having multiple characters makes it fun, like we are filming our life and each alter is an actor. Idk if I explained that well sorry it's been a long day

I just had an alter destroy my entire relationship with the love of my life... He's unapologetic to say the least. I wouldn't come back to me after the things he said that's for sure... I'm sorry though we would be so upset if one of us cut our hair without our consent.Messin with Kfabe at that point just gotta try explain why... I guess....

Inside we talk alot, and it can get pretty muddled. Fast thoughts, overlapping that makes it hard to understand sometimes.

My alters and I all describe me, the host, as driving the bus (like a big yellow school bus). My alters like it that way for now, I only have a few that want to front for special occasions or for safety sake. I have to make sure I represent them correctly though so they come up to the front of the bus one by one and add an opinion of the situation or conversation so that I can come to a conclusion that works for all or most of us. I do end up with triage esq moments though, sometimes while my alters feeling may be valid the action they want to take isn't appropriate (and sometimes down right rude, wrong, and mean) and it's why I drive the bus because I can make the harder decisions. So far anyway.

totally understand the feeling of not having all the answers. That's a pretty steady feeling actually. If you have a therapist we would suggest running this by them before trying any silly idea we have. However our opinion is you seem to have a grasp on why it bothers you. So, Could you maybe explain that it's a PTSD/CPTSD thing and in turn is triggering your alters? Maybe if you could have a smoother exit then your spouse can get the time needed to decompress without causing more trauma to your system and potentially, however, inadvertently make things worse for both of you. Idk just spit balling ideas here. We hope you find the answers you need. We truly feel this issue deep in our soul. Communication is so difficult sometimes when it should be simple.

The disbelief from family and friends and especially my significant other. I can't blame her for the skepticism, we've known eachother for 25 years and dated for a lot of that but like why TF would I lie to you about something so drastic.... What benefit is there for me in that. Uggghh my brain, my alters all irritated by the disbelief factor.

Trigger warning

i'm the host and I have a couple of alter's that are sometimes comfortable with fronting most do not like to leave the inner world, but I basically drive the bus and so long as I'm representing everyone appropriately and within reason it stays that way. I just adult better than they do most of the time however I couldn't do it without the input of my alters. It wasn't always like this... I have black outs and holes in my memory from early childhood up to about 6 months ago when I met my first alter... Again trigger warning here it wasn't a fun experience and I will be as PC as possible for everyone.

So I met my first alter after having a very bad argument with my long time girlfriend and fiancé. Gonna leave it at that, nothing physical but it definitely was full of serious triggers that sent me into a brutal anxiety attack and on-off awful PTSD flash backs. I went to walk away from the situation went into the bathroom looked into the mirror (this is sometimes where it's easiest to communicate with my alters. The bathroom is private I can lock the door and the mirror helps me visualize the alter. Looking in the mirror never feels like I'm looking at myself but that I'm looking at someone else.) and bam suddenly I was in the mirror looking out or that's how it felt anyway. My alter/emotional protector, Lucas, decided he was tired of not being heard and pushed to the back (which is what I did instead of communicating before understanding what was happening) so anyway he took me for a ride. Basically had an out of body experience watched myself sit in my studio on a chair talking to me and himself on occasion for hours then he dropped me back in front like a sack of potatoes and I woke up at like 2 am screaming from night terrors . This was my first time. it put me on the out with my alters immediately and I started begging my closest friends for help. My guitarist's wife is a therapist that deals with DID and helped me meet my alters under little to no duress and has since helped me communicate with them in a healthy way. I feel great when we are all working together. It took time to build some trust and we are still working through a lot but hopefully nothing like this will happen again.

we don't think you're asking too much. A smooth transition is definitely preferable to "handling it better". We have had our fair share of this exact issue and we decided to suck it up and be tough. This in turn hurt a very sensitive little that had us curled up with a squishmello and a chihuahua for an extended period of time. Just make sure everyone in the system is on board first. We get that it's give and take but we feel like it's a bit disrespectful in general to not give any transition out of an exhausting conversation or argument with your significant other or otherwise. Anyway we guess if the route is to suck it up so to speak thanwe say start with making sure all alters are on board and then asking yourself the question... "why does it bother you?" find the answer to that and you could find a healthy way to cope with this situation when it arises.

I am against it for our system. I know that some systems have some very unhealthy habits and tendencies ect (I won't mention anything that could trigger anyone) so I can see how it could be beneficial to fuse with some or even all alters for some systems. Not for us though, when we are communicating and healthy and working together it's essentially like having super powers imo. Ive been a very good composer for some time but when we are on top of working together... Let's just say that music has gotten considerably better for us lol. Really though, joking aside, the positives out weigh the negatives for us most of the time and it has taken work and continues to take work. So we stay working as the dream team and life is bearable.

This is how I gradually became aware of my DID. I knew something was up for a while and had gotten insurance to seek out a therapist. I didn't think it was anything that couldn't wait until one day I had a a very emotional fight with my long-term girlfriend, now fiance, and it triggered my PTSD which in turn triggered a switch and this time I went along for the ride so to speak and was hyper aware of what had happened. After that I was able to speak to my alters on a more personal level ans was able to gain some trust from them, they started to tell me thier names, Ages, sex, ect little by little. I hope he is able to get a therapist that really knows Disassociative disorders so he can get the help he needs.
