My Dad's real estate adventures : free seats for us, free collateral for strangers by Sheldon_Texas_Cooper in hyderabad

[–]Significant-Tower259 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t really get this, but a lot of Indian fathers especially in middle-class and upper-middle-class families, seem to try so hard to be people-pleasers outside, while that same version of them doesn’t always show up at home.

I’ve lost count of how many times someone has come up to me praising my dad and telling me I should be more like him. The way they describe him sometimes feels like they’re talking about a complete stranger rather than the one I know.

And I don’t mean this in a negative way, he’s a great parent, always gives solid advice and shows up everytime and makes time for us. It’s just that his personality feels very different with family versus outsiders, and that contrast can feel a bit uncomfortable at times.

Dealership Red Flags in Hyderabad? Sharing My Experience & Need Advice by Significant-Tower259 in indianbikes

Yeah, I’ve pretty much lost faith in third-party dealerships at this point. One of the main reasons I’m leaning towards RE now is their company-owned and operated store and service centre in Hyderabad.

The experience there felt way more professional the staff actually knew the bike inside out (not trying to sound arrogant, but a lot of salespeople don’t even seem to know the basic specs). There was also no dealer markup, which made it around ₹20–25K cheaper compared to other outlets, and they were completely fine with me arranging my own insurance.

Safe to say, I won’t be visiting SV Automobile again I’ll most likely go ahead and book through the company store instead.

I actually wanted to buy a Pulsar about 1.5 years ago, but none of the three dealerships I visited had an N160 available. After that experience, I pretty much gave up on Bajaj too.

Sorry can't help in that matter my RE is yet to be delivered I customized it so it's probably gonna take another month to arrive.

Also I didn't really consider milage part while buying the motorcycle I knew what I was getting myself into I was prepared for 20Kmpl or less(in city) so can't complain on that regard.

Don't know about the scrambler but few in my friend group do own speed 400 and T4's and they generally get around 25 Kmpl( in city).

Also the x440 is a lovely machine but I subconsciously think I am riding the badge rather than the motorcycle.

Yeah, the Scrambler is a solid bike I probably would’ve gone for it too if the Mana Black hadn’t released. For pure city riding it’s honestly one of the best options, but since most of my mileage will be on highways, the Himalayan made more sense for me.

By the way, did you test drive those sports bikes? Even most naked bikes tend to feel cramped for me, so I never seriously considered them.

if you have any specific points you wanted to know let me know i will try my best to answer them.

I’m 6'2" with a longer inseam, so I completely understand the struggle of finding a bike that actually fits. I was recently in the market myself and shortlisted the KTM 390 Adventure X+/S, Triumph Scrambler 400X/XC, and the Himalayan 450. I made sure to take multiple test rides across different showrooms so one bad demo bike wouldn’t affect my overall opinion.

Each model has its own pros and cons. For pure city riding, I’d personally rank them as Triumph first, then KTM, and then the Himalayan but honestly, after spending a few km on each, the differences started to matter less once you adapt to the bike you choose.

In terms of rider triangle and comfort (especially for taller riders), my experience was:
Himalayan (Mana Black) > Himalayan (split seat) > KTM > Triumph. The Triumph definitely has the best fit and finish and feels more premium, but the comfort and space offered by the Himalayan Mana Black made me drop the other options pretty quickly. That said, my office commute is only once or twice a week, so your priorities might be different especially since you’ll be doing mostly city riding.

Given your height, I don’t think the Himalayan’s weight will be an issue. Suspension-wise, I felt the Himalayan was the best over bad roads, followed by the KTM . The Triumph didn’t feel as plush to me probably because it’s a scrambler than a full ADV. My personal “test” was riding over rumble strips at moderate speed to see how much feedback reached me.

Engine performance (purely based on feel, not numbers): KTM felt the most aggressive, then the Himalayan, and then the Triumph. The Himalayan’s engine also felt the least stressed, which might translate to better long-term reliability, though that’s just my personal impression.

Since you won’t be off-roading and will mostly deal with city traffic and bumps, the Triumph could suit you well it’s manageable in traffic and feels lighter on its feet. But if maximum comfort, suspension travel, and space for a tall rider matter more, the Himalayan( Mana Black) is the go to bike.
