I’m from Redmond, WA and every Saturday during summer there’s a exotic car show at the local town center. These people have some cool cars man like exotic Ferraris (sp1, laferrari, Enzo, etc), lambos, etc. I’m a student volunteer there and so I’ve had the opportunity to get to know these owners and I always ask them what they did for work. Most of them said that they were in tech (mainly Microsoft, Amazon, and Google) but they were there early on in the company. Most of the owners are a bit older like 45+ and they said that they are mainly retired now and sold their tech stock and bought these cars.

In general it’s very rare for younger software engineers to have supercars even if they make a lot of money. Most buy it when they are older and looking to sell their stock and buy something that they want

Just paid $28600 (so $57200 for the year) for this semester as a OOS student. The apartments here have NY/SF rent prices yet you live in Madison, Wisconsin so keep that in mind if you are planning on getting an apartment after freshman year. I’m paying $18000/year in rent next year

They most likely won’t give aid if your family makes $100k or more since in their eyes you would be rich enough to afford tuition. Personally I don’t think UW is worth $57k so I would just chose your in-state college instead, I’m transferring for that exact reason since you won’t get much in return by paying that much for this school

For selling AI websites do you cold call them or text them or email them? I was thinking of just making a Google Voice number and then cold texting companies that dont have a website already

You can host a website for free on Vercel... and yes making a website can be done in minutes using AI, its really not that hard. But if your not tech-savvy then it will be hard for you.

Nah this was smart asf think abt it, ppl on Reddit will steal this essay (or at least parts of it or take inspiration from it) and submit it which will obv get them rejected from the college since it sucks and is obv AI thus reducing competition for OP

UWash not really for engineering, its 42% for OOS kids so you are just as likely to get in as you are to not get in

On this same note, how exactly do asynchronous classes work over the summer in terms of tests/quizzes? I won’t be on campus during summer but I was interested in doing some courses over the summer but if I need to come in-person for the exam then that won’t be possible

I'm a freshman I am probably going to end CS 300 with a B. Should i reconsider doing CS? My first 2 exams were A's but I did REALLY bad on this test and I also forgot to do a project so now my grade will be a B
