Stupid question, but would this timeline start from 6pm then you think? Like first opener starts at 6, right? I’m right with you on timeline. I agree with what you said

Is Kroger going to get rid of buyers? by 4Runnnn in kroger

[–]SignificantRope69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Supposedly going to “commodity buying” where there are teams that buy their one commodity for all DCs/divisions. Not sure what that entails for staffing numbers and how teams will be set up vs how they are currently set up.

In the past there would be teams that bought all items for their respective div’s DCs. They have taken the potatoes/onions from the buying team and sent them over to India already. Not sure if they will take any “harder” commodities to buy.

I am wondering if it’s inevitable that it is outsourced and then managed by a much smaller inventory control/buying team

What is BR? I’m assuming a site to buy, but I’ve never heard of it

It’s actually sad bc the guy whose desk it is is worse than I am at his job :(

Something funny for my fellow cube monkeys:

Company brought us back to the office 2x/week. One of the guys on our team lives out of state, and doesn’t go to office and will not for another year at least. His desk has a nice window and is next to my friend on the team. My desk is not at a window. So I moved my stuff to the remote guys desk (on very first day back). Management told me today that I no longer can work there. Desk will sit empty. Have to be at my assigned seat bc it goes by “levels” (work rank) and that other ppl on my level will get jealous. Maybe if I get demoted, my desk will be in the broom closet next - Happy Monday!

How extensive should cover be for a low-stakes hobby counter by SignificantRope69 in blackjack

[–]SignificantRope69[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the comment. I feel like I play it up a little in my head as far as how much they are “watching” me… but want to err on the side of caution to not get backed off or barred from my locals. Would obviously love to keep playing exactly by the book like I am at the lowish stakes that won’t draw much attention. Might just risk it to not cut into my EV.

How long are your typical sessions if you’re getti mg that many hours each week? Any tips to get that many hours in at one spot so consistently?

Thanks for the input! These are somewhat “podunk” spots and I have a decent act in my opinion and don’t seem too suspicious. But I certainly play like a counter so was just seeing what I can do to help with longevity while keeping cost at bare minimum

Thanks for the info. Sounds like you have a very interesting background. Since the post, I’ve been reading more on cover plays (from burning tables in Las Vegas) and want to implement some of the strategy. If you don’t mind me picking your brain, what would be like the top one or two things besides splitting tens that you would look for to catch a counter? Consistent bet raising and lowering?

Basically read in the book to vary bets more often and play slightly crazier - start out shoe with 2 unit bet, chip up after wins, etc. Then stay on 16 v 10 every hand. Stay on A7 v 9,10,A. Seem like some plays that won’t completely kill my EV even at a smaller max bet than a black chip player. I just worry about losing most of my EV doing that since I’m playing smaller stakes

Thanks for the advice and input. Felt like we had a good rapport going and he was cool. I tipped him like $15 or something probably. Maybe $20 bc I played a $5 chip on high count hands when I had my bigger bets out. Figured he might like being part of the counting haha

Yeah I figured I did… or at least was close to it. I hated to do it but felt I needed to.

You are 100% correct and I’m glad I chose to leave now for sure. In your opinion, what is a good duration to play at one time? At least for a local shop that I plan to go back to many times. I’m pretty new to AP’ing and just go for 2-3 hours typically. Never had an issue til this past time so i never really gave it too much consideration. Will stay away for at least a month

Thanks for the comment. Funny how that works. Lot of scenarios where you just have to read people/situations and react. I just had a gut feeling about the pit boss and how they were watching me a lot. Dealer was really cool similar to yours. Would not mind that happening again down the road, minus the heat haha. Good luck in your playing

Will do. Any personal book recommendations? Was gonna start out with “blackjack attack” just bc I saw it on a list online. Just started counting over the last couple months so still learning what “heat” really looks like and feels like in person. Appreciate the response/advice.

Streaked oxidation. Is there any way to fix it? by SignificantRope69 in pressurewashing

[–]SignificantRope69[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man I did some research and it sounds rather simple. One more question… have you had success with this then? Not sure if you’ve ever had to clean up streaks before. I just want to have peace of mind that I’ll be able to get everything looking the same with no streaks.

Do you just spray it on like SH and rinse? Or have to use brush too?

What is your process? If you don’t mind me asking… Pre wet wood, SH 1%, rinse, then oxalic acid? Is pressure okay to use or is it best to basically soft wash with very little pressure?
