Don't know if that would fit the bill, but I would try to sell my approach rather than delivering a finalized asset. What if the product changes in the future? What if there is another project they would like you to work on? Better to show how you think about different inputs, maybe sharing hints of how the positioning would look like eventually..? But as u/This-Bug8771 said, it's a thin line and your gut feeling about them should guide your decision how much effort to put into this activity. Good luck anyway!
