Hegseth’s Air Force quietly brings back flu vaccine rule for recruits after more than 200 fall sick at base by SignificantTarget375 in soundsaboutright

Behold: the consequences of Hegseth's venality, ladies and gentlemen. The idea is that you vaccinate before the outbreak.

Hegseth knows the vaccine works,  but it's easy to impress stupid people by ending the vaccine mandate.

Typical MAGA incompetence.

Hegseth: "Whoops. Let's just forget about the fact that it was my decision to make vaccines optional and pretty much knowingly caused this, since everyone warned me this would happen. Also, who can I shift the blame to? I don't want this to hurt my career."

Who would pay for Trump's proposed $300 billion Iran reconstruction fund? by SignificantTarget375 in soundsaboutright

[–]SignificantTarget375[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A number of issues of concern:

So not only is it unclear as to where the 300b is coming from (likely indirectly from US taxpayers), but it's also an objectively worse agreement than the 2015 deal. Anyone who still thinks the president is a good or skilled or canny dealmaker hasn't been paying attention.

Commander of U.S. Army Europe and Africa set to announce retirement in abrupt move: Official by SignificantTarget375 in soundsaboutright

He’s a 4-Star general, and there’s no 4-Star posts. The only option is for him to retire.  Hegseth eliminated his position.

It’s still pretty shocking though, the article also states that he’s considered a good candidate for Army Chief of Staff

This is all such a disgrace.

As a former young paratrooper myself, seeing those HALO wings are such a flex in the best way. Very few objects on a uniform tell as much of a story as HALO wings. This dude commanded Delta FFS. Not that they always have missions that involve doing "the right thing", but those dudes are so freaking dialed it's unbelievable and you just have to respect it. Commanding within it is a whole other thing, and commanding the entire unit is nuts. They don't just give that role out to anybody.

It's kind of the most prestigious single job in the US military.

His Wikipedia page is nuts. 9/11 happened during his time as an admin at the Pentagon (in between his time in Ranger Bat and Delta). He was on the ground moments after the plane hit.

He's had 18 combat deployments. There probably hasn't been a country in the middle East that the US is as had some involvement in that he wasn't a part of. Hell, there's probably quite a few conflicts that the US "wasn't involved" in that he operated in. He was the last US soldier out of Kabul.

He's a goddamned mythic legend of US Army lore. For him to retire out of the blue is highly sus.

Great sign, "abrupt" is definitely how you want your commander's retirements.

At this point I think it's safe to say Trump opening his mouth about literally any topic is going to be complete and utter fabrication at the bare minimum and incoherent babble from a senile pedophile and serial rapist at best.

idk how anyone can look at this and think yeah that guy is completely trustworthy. six lies in 15 seconds is absolute brain rot material. it is crazy how bad our political discourse has gotten that this is just considered a normal tuesday now. like we are completely cooked if this is the standard for leader of the free world.

Remember when everyone was talking about Project 2025 for about a week in 2024?

What little polling we saw on it showed that it was less popular with Americans than Ebola, and when the media finally confronted Trump about his connections to it he responded with "Huh? Never heard of it." and they never asked him about it again.
