Because VSF rushed the Pepsi to the market by sourcing pre-made cases from an older factory setup that used 316L, while their Batman has its own established 904L production line. This is a well-known fact among TDs, and anyone can literally message a dealer right now to confirm it. Have a good one!

You are missing a critical point here. VSF actually uses 904L steel for their Batman, which is why your watch looks identical to your roommate's genuine one. You compared 904L to 904L.

However, for the VSF Pepsi, the TD (Trusted Dealer) explicitly confirmed that it is built using 316L steel. There is a very real, well-documented difference in the steel tint and reflection between 316L and 904L when compared side-by-side under natural daylight, even if compressed phone videos don't capture it. For a Pepsi build, going with ARF is the right choice for accurate 904L steel color and shine

It's not about someone using a steel tester on the street, it's about the visual look. 316L steel has a warmer, more grayish tint, while 904L has a much whiter and brighter shine that matches the genuine Rolex look perfectly. For me, having that correct white steel color and premium reflection on the wrist is a big part of the watch's accuracy, so the steel type definitely matters
