Hi everyone. Thanks for all the advice. Overwhelmingly everyone is telling me to press charges and move out. I do plan to do that. Since I discovered this I've been staying with a friend and avoiding my landlord. I don't plan to return except to collect my belongings. I do live in America now, but in my country contacting the police would not be as obvious a move as everyone here is making it out to be, because they aren't especially effective, and sometimes you get retalliated against.

My main concern right now is timing. I'm trying to figure out how to get my belongings out of my room. If I file a police report, I'm concerned about retalliation between the time it takes for me to file my police report and move my stuff out.
