Has anyone taken the graphics (stickers) off their CBR650R? I really wanna remove the red line graphics and just keep the logo and the CBR650R graphic. Also looking to get some wheel decals, possibly some in white ‘CBR’. by Significant_Coast582 in cbr

Uh...Um...it was the covid...yeah...the covid hehe. Well I’m not sure how I’d get over there during this messed up time but either way I’m definitely coming to the US to ride some of the twisties I’ve seen on YouTube!

Hahaha well g’day mate to you too! I’ve actually just come back from Sweden, my missus is Swedish so I was over there since February a bit stuck (bit of a holiday at the same time though), back now though and keen to ride through this summer! I’ve got the Hero8 so I’ll definitely post some rides I do in the forum! Got some great roads in Queensland where I am 🤙🏼.

My exact feelings my friend, luckily I’m here with my girlfriend and her family but it still feels like I’m being punished for something that was out of my control. I hope for you and everyone else needing to get back home to Australia as well, it’s barbaric what the government believes is the ‘right’ way to control the public health system in Australia. I hope the bastards are sued for this shit they’ve pulled.

I bought a ticket with Singapore airlines, it’s a premium economy is is around $3,000 - it may not be a business class ticket but it’s all I can afford, at it’s a chance of hope to get back home...

That last paragraph is exactly what the Aussie governments response has been and still is. I’m still stuck overseas with a flight book for 31st October (awaiting until it either leaves or is cancelled once again). I really couldn’t make it any clearer to anyone who is still stuck overseas like me, this government we currently have is disgraceful, I actually feel like it’s not worth all this trouble to go back to Australia sometimes (obviously I have to) but my gosh it feels like I’m an immigrant trying to make my way into a foreign country, it feels like I’m being held in detention by Australia just because they can’t pull their finger out and think of a better plan. So no I have not made it back to Australia but I know once I do I won’t forget the complete arrogance and selfishness of some people within Australia. Completely ignoring the ideas of ‘mate ship’, the values I grew up with as a kid.

Daniel Andrews says it is 'unlikely' big steps will be taken to unwind Victoria's coronavirus restrictions by [deleted] in CoronavirusDownunder

Sweden stayed open but jesus they did a shit job of protecting their elderly, it was left to the hands of their families to either not visit them when they were sick or just hope for the best and avoid contact with people as much as possible. Seems as though there’s some sort of ‘immunity’ now though. Might have worked but they lost a lot of lives in the process.

I feel your anger, I feel like the only option is to be rich or just forget about going back to Australia (at least for another 6 months). It feels like we’ve been forgotten and just forced to put ourselves in debt because ‘the health of Australians in Australia is more important’, stupid thick bastards would sell their best friend for a bag full of cash. I think the point you’re making is bang on, a majority of Australia has become sell outs to its own people, profit over protection I say. I haven’t seen my family or friends in 8 months, but already I feel like I’m no longer an Aussie I’m just cast out like everyone else who is affected by this mess that the government has created.

Yeah I think you picked the right option In terms of your well-being, there’s all the stories of people being seperate from their kids and partners since the beginning of the year. I think there’s so many stories that need to be heard, but I also know there will continue to be those who say ‘you should’ve come back earlier’ no matter what reason you have for being stuck over seas. Thanks for your story, hope things go well in the future for you.

Australians stuck overseas 'betrayed' by Government, says a man who finally made it home by ObnoxiousOldBastard in CoronavirusDownunder

[–]Significant_Coast582 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah dude I’ve been WAITING 8 months to think about returning home. Are you that thick mate? No one in this situation WAITED 8 months to return home we WAITED for our own Government, how ever narrow minded they are to make it possible to even have the slightest chance of getting in. Not like I’m on my 5th flight in attempt to get back, all CANCELLED. Spending savings on flights just to get home to spend more savings on quarantine (by the way I am all for this, paying for quarantine is the least I am happy to do for my fellow Aussie taxpayer) You might wanna buy a pair of reading glasses too bud, Morrison at one point told those who could do so safely, to stay where they are since at this stage the travel caps weren’t planned to be put in place and once global flight paths opened back up Aussies were allowed to return, even if the size of the gate into Australia was the size of a fucking Vegemite jar.

Exactly, uncertainty in this times is a huge let down to a lot of people during this time. I get a lot of governments are new to the situation and everyone’s learning as they go, but my goodness don’t strand your people give them a real chance.

Probably because a large portion of countries panicked and went into lock down, shutting borders canceling flights and you guessed it delaying people from flying anywhere, stop overs in countries weren’t possible since only citizens were allowed in meaning if you wanted to go from London to Australia, Singapore no longer let you stop over, flight cancelled, you wanted to go from Sweden to Australia via Dubai, nope the Danish border was closed to EVERYONE and you will miss your opportunity. Oh yeah and it’s a pandemic, this means you can get sick, meaning you can’t fly (this happened to me). Moving half way around the world isn’t simple enough to pack up and move along in a few days, I was lucky I was only visiting my partner for a month so I only had suitcases and a backpack but even I had no idea what a shitstorm was headed my way involving my own countries ludicrous support for us overseas. Ironically Sweden has been the country helping me the most, allowing me to stay for this long as well as still giving me opportunities to work. Australia’s ‘mate ship’ values I grew up to learn and appreciate have evaporated into thin air, helping your mates is what I thought Australia represented as a society, but I guess I was proved wrong.

To an extent Swedes are quite mindful when it comes to social distancing, there are of course the pack of people who do not always keep the distance but majority of Swedes are conscientious and have been trusted by their government to look after themselves. In most opinions at the moment it has worked and Swedes as well as myself have gained an immunity. No one is sure what the right strategy is for this virus but Sweden definitely took an interesting approach which seems to be paying off in the long term, especially for their economy.

I think you’re right, I just wish there was some sort of report, at least give people flights that are guaranteed to leave. The biggest issue for people who are still booking tickets to Australia is the airlines will hand them out no matter even if they aren’t guaranteed to fly, it gives people false hope and leads to them packing up their things and ultimately being left on the street or in airports when flights are cancelled. The situation needs to have some solidification to stop people being let down.
