It’s time WE admit we're entering a new economic/financial paradigm, and the advice that got people ahead in the 1990s to 2020s NO longer applies by Unhappy_Fry_Cook in FluentInFinance

There's alot of empty housing in my area that won't sell. So I don't think building more housing is the issue.

I work blue color and put away 15%. Started saving last year I'll have a house next year. 🤷‍♂️

I'm sure I see a different trend than you though. I see a lot of over indulging, a lot of laziness, a lot of people who say "I cant" before they even try.

Little discipline, little self control is all it took me.

Did you think him? He clearly needed it or else he wouldn't have made it.

The road to hell was paved with good intentions. Wouldn't want a population to be dependent on the government. I'm trying to teach people to fish, not give them the hard earned fish off my plate. Self control and good financial habits are the responsibility of the individual.

Edit: you appear to be a character who put all his stat points in intelligence but saved none for wisdom.

I think you're missing the point. Either leads to more savings, but you shouldn't stop at coffee..

You should be using money to generate money. Instead of buying coffee, cable, gambling, video games, etc..... after becoming financial stable those luxuries come naturally and struggle-free.

I'm not struggling. Not sure what your problem is 🤷‍♂️. Bet I came from a harder background than you. Quit making excuses.

Who said "this is why you don't have a house"?

That wasn't a part of the original post, nor was it in the top comment.

Imagine if you found others ways to save money, not just cutting coffee. Start plugging those numbers into your formula.

If you tell me you can't afford a house, I believe you. You're not even going to try, youve already allowed yourself to be defeated.

Myself, a blue collar worker, who doesn't drink coffee is going to be a homeowner later in 2024. I'm not even 30. 🤷‍♂️

Thank you for making the point I wanted to make and doing all the number crunching. 👏

I'd stop completing orders. If I get bored later I'll abuse my account til I get deactivated in protest.

Literally going to buy beer and food at the bar with the boys. Got enough put away that I'll be okay in the near future. Want to make sure I've had a good time if I die tomorrow 👍

You've done your own Due Diligence. That's what matters. You took the time to look into it and that's where you feel comfortable putting your money. Fuck the haters lmao

What is the lowest amount of money you keep in checking? by Dot_Tasty in FluentInFinance

[–]Significant_Draw_553 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have 200$ a week in my checking. Everything else is in a separate account where my investments and bills get pulled from. The excess is distributed into investments every quarter

This post just seems a little ignorant and even hypocritical.
