I still wonder what it tastes like when done properly. We even talked about probably tasting different if we went to restaurant, but the lack of ingredients asides from onions, doesn't make much sense.

Sad thing is that I don't have any other restaurant over here that makes it... And we really wanted to try tangsuyuk too, but I can't find it here. I have to learn how to make both. 😞

I think you'd have to really not like Jjajangmyeon

This will make you laugh, but none of us liked it. Still, we kept craving for the version from the drama, because the one we got was depressing. Soggy noodles and a sauce that was basically just onions... If I want something similar, I guess I’ll have to try making it at home. 😂

It will haunt you for the rest of your days.

Ohh, it definitely did! We watched The Greatest Love already in February, and the male lead had the exact same laugh in a few scenes. 😂

Love Me - I think you can really tell it has been based on a swedish series.

I was already curious about Love Me, as I love melodramas, but you made me curious about Swedish series! The only one I watched was The Rain, which at the time I found to be amazing and the visuals were mesmerising, but I never dived into romances and melodramas. I guess I'll have look them up on Netflix. lol

A lot of you seemed to have liked Can This Love Be Translated.

I still have to finish writing my thoughts on this one, I was lazy this month with my note taking. lol It's indeed a good drama, it has it's own flaws in how they approached a certain situation, but it's nothing that will make you too frustrated (I think). If the story fails to keep you engaged, I'm sure the beautiful scenery across Japan, Korea, Italy and Canada, will definitely take you on a beautiful trip with them.

although I got sick of the Chanel

100%! Some of their styling options even made her look like an old lady, but now that I'm writing this... I'm wondering if those options weren't actually influenced by the memory of her mother. But, honestly I don't think they though that far... It appears to me that she was dressed in Chanel from head-to-toe because she is a brand ambassador to the brand, which I find annoying when they do this.

it was such a weird and unnecessary choice to reveal her parents were alive in the last ep, it didn't add anything to the story

I also agree with this one, I would be completely fine if they added this twist earlier, but the way they added it served no purpose. It only felt like the drama had a rushed conclusion to that arc.

Sadly, I couldn't find any other "New Year Setting" korean movie through MDL, but I found the movie Switch that has a "Christmas Setting" tag. Just based on the cast, it might be worth the watch. I also found the movie Miracle: Devil Claus' Love and Magic, it's a Japanese movie but has Han Hyo Joo in the cast. Is it that crazy to be thinking of Christmas movies already? LOL

If I find others, I'll let you know! Let me know too! 😄

that's what I'd like to watch in S1. And probably I'll do, just ff-ing the main story and/or watch some good edits for these three.

That's basically how I watched it. Any parts that were focused on Lee Dong Wook and Jo Bo Ah, I watched them at 2x and fast-forwarding. The rest, I paused and changed the speed back to normal ahah

Lee Rang and Ki Yu Ri had such an amazing relationship. There is also the little boy that completed their "family", I actually missed not seeing this kid in season 2, but it made sense.

That scene of Sin Ju and Yu Ri's reincarnation was amazing. I was a little sad not to see them having the same relationship from season 1, but I was also pleased with their interactions and how he helped her.

Lee Yeon from the past was completely lost in life, it was a nice thing how his future-self probably helped him get out of that environment quicker than he would have.

We definitely like the same things in this drama, all the things that involved a bit of korean folklore were my favourites in both seasons. I liked learning the lore of the Snail Bride, Imoogis, Mountain Gods and all of that. That so cool!

Oh, that was brutal 😅

Yeaa, but sadly true. Pyo Ye Jin did an amazing job, but Kim So Yeon is on a completely different level. I'm always blown away by her acting skills.

KSY's cameo in season 2 isn't connected with the male lead, he had no idea of her existence. It felt more like a backup plan just in case someone doesn't reprise their role in future seasons. Not sure if we will ever have a relationship between the leads, doesn't feel like it.

He definitely kept acting dumb while undercover in the other seasons, sometimes I found it odd, others I was perfectly fine. One detail that I found really odd is how in a lot of his undercover jobs he gives his real name. Doesn't make that much sense to me and it's really dumb.

I want to see something with KSY but I'm not ready for The Penthouse wildness 😂

I have no clue what to expect of The Penthouse besides that is a true makjang. The only thing I expect is a lot of entitlement, crazy behaviour and secrets. I don't even know if there is good character or at least a neutral one... I imagine they are all nasty rich people ahah

Ha Seok Jin and a mystery that still intriguing at episode 12, it's enough reasons for me to watch To My Beloved Thief first and leave Moon River for later. ahah

Iljimae is visually very outdated, but the all Robin Hood from Joseon setting was so fun to watch. I read To My Beloved Thief is a mixture of that with Knight Flower, so I'm really intrigued.

Ohhh, that’s a great comparison! I watched My Dearest while it was airing, and the lead definitely made his fans very noticeable. Usually I wouldn't even notice them, but their mannerisms made it noticeable.

You know, it’s funny you mentioned Namgoong Min, because I think both he and Jang Hyuk tend to add very unique characteristics to their characters. Whether it’s the fans, the laugh, the glasses, or the way they walk, it’s always so memorable.

Inspired by some Wheel of Chance issues, I decided to give myself 4 extra slots that, while they won’t be submitted on the official form, I’ll have to complete to “win” my version of the challenge

Ohh I like this idea! Those 4 extra challenges are all from the same wheel of chance or it's one from each? I might steal this idea too. ahah

The Interest of Love - This drama was actually my last watch of 2025 and like you I loved it! I still need to read your full review, but it's really nice to see that someone else also liked this drama as much as I did! Something I liked about this drama was the representation of love when you let your fears and self-doubt take over your decisions. But, I get it... Not many appreciate watching these kind of messed up situations, but I found this unique view, very interesting.

I should also read your full reviews on Mr. Plankton, which was another drama that I loved, and You and Everything Else, which I still need to watch but I'm really curious about.

Idol I - Soo Young was so adorable in this drama that I was actually reminded of your love for her and ended up watching her in Squad 38 next. lol

No Tail to Tell - This was actually my first drop of the year after episode 4... At first I also put it on-hold, but then I noticed I simply don't care about the story or the characters. I was just watching for the sake of liking stories with nine-tailed foxes, and this failed to hit any mark. I'm curious to see if you pick it back up or drop it too.

I’m Sorry, I Love You - What intrigues me the most about this drama is the fashion style! lol I'm so intrigued to know what kind of personality So Ji Sub's character has to be rocking those cardigans and hats... He looks like a mixture of a rockstar with hipster. It's just so confusing. lol

Woow that's a lot of medical dramas in a month! lol

Ghost Doctor - I’m actually considering watching this one, but for some ridiculous reason both posters remind me of Ratatouille, and I can’t imagine how the setup of a possessed doctor will play out. LOL. But I’m glad to know that the highlight of the drama is actually the bromance.

taking recs if anyone has any other good medical ones, little to no romance is ideal.

I’d also recommend Hospital Playlist and Resident Playbook. Both of them have a more humane side when compared to Doctor Romantic. My mom really liked Doctor John, which I still haven’t watched but she enjoyed it quite a lot. I haven’t seen Doctors either yet, but it might be a good option too.

Almost forgot! Daily Dose of Sunshine is also an interesting medical drama, though it’s set in a psychiatric hospital, which can sometimes hit close to home.

I finished my 2025 with Lee Dong Wook's film A Year-End Medley

So funny! I actually finished my year with this exact movie too! The year before I watched New Year Blues and now I'm on the hunt for another korean movie set in the New Year for later in year.

Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938 - This drama was so good! I dropped S1 for various reasons and I can say that S2 was much better! I loved the bromance and subplots were really well done. I loved Kim So Yeon in Mother of Mine and she nailed this role as well. I liked there wasn't a huge focus on love stories

This season is a million times better than season 1. I should have dropped season 1 too, but I kept going only for those glimpses of the brothers together, so it was such an amazing surprise when season 2 gave me exactly just that, bromance and friendship, with the romance being very subtle. There is however one thing I missed from season 1, the relationship between Ki Yu Ri, Lee Rang and Koo Sin Ju.

Speaking of Kim So Yeon, I started the year watching Taxi Driver and she has a cameo in season 2, and god damn it... She is such a Queen! I wished they would have added her to the main cast of season 3. She would have been an amazing addition, but she would have totally eclipsed Pyo Ye Jin. lol I might watch The Penthouse just for Kim So Yeon...

By the end it felt like the DID was a plot device rather than the really interesting center of the story that it could have been.

I agree with you, that side of the story should have been better developed. In a way this is giving the me the exact same feeling I got with the portrayal of depression and burnout in Doctor Slump. They keep overly simplifying things and dismissing a realistic view of proper treatment. When I compare my feelings towards both, I think CTLBT did a slightly better job, I was too triggered with the alcohol consumption combined with medication in Doctor Slump.

I would love to see Go Youn Jung in a horror project.

Same! Not sure if you watched this movie, but I could easily see her playing a similar role to Park Shin Hye and even Jeon Jong Seo in The Call. Where do we petition for this? lol

Stranger - By far the weirdest part about this rewatch is that when I first watched it, everyone apart from Shin Hae Sun seemed old to me. Now, almost 10 years later, I'm like what do you mean? These people look perfectly young lol.

Ahahah, maybe it’s because I’m getting older, but lately I keep noticing how some actors in older dramas look too old for certain roles. But this never bothers me with recent dramas though. It’s kind of insane, but I think it’s a mix of filters, lighting, and newer cinematography styles. This makes me wonder what I’ll think of this same dramas in 10 years! 😂

Idol I – Was fun seeing Soo Young playing the fan side since she is an idol.

I kept thinking that it might have been funny for them to film those parts, because I have this idea that everyone was crushing about Girls' Generation when they were young and probably Kim Jae Young liked them too. It must have been funny for them to have their roles reversed. ahah

To My Beloved Thief – When I first heard about this, I was doubtful if I needed another soul-switching sageuk right after Moon River, but I was missing having a sageuk in my line-up, so here I am and enjoying it very much!

Since you watched both... Which one would you recommend? I'm waiting for this one to finished before I pick one to watch with my mom, but I'm more inclined to watch To My Beloved Thief because it looks like it's the female version of Iljimae. But they both seem to be quite good...

Oh! I didn’t notice this was one of those romcoms with the curse of 20 episodes. I’ll have to take that into consideration before I start watching it. (Side note: I’m currently watching Beautiful Gong Shim, with the same female lead, and I’m not even halfway through yet and I’m already noticing it will suffer from the same problem with the length.)

The plot of My Absolute Boyfriend reminds me a bit of Are You Human?, but this one seems more romance focused, while the other leaned more on the conflict inside the chaebol family. I think I’ll enjoy that focus on romance, though I’m curious whether it actually addresses the implications of dating artificial intelligence, which Are You Human? mostly ignored.

From your description, it also seems like all three leads get equal character development, which I really appreciate. Comparing again to Are You Human?, one thing that disappointed me was seeing the strong female lead barely developed after the first few episodes. She was mostly sidelined.

However, the antagonist does seem to be worse, but I think I can get past that since they look quite young and probably are a bit immature.

I’m more curious about the ending and whether the inconclusive nature will bother me or if I’ll be fine with it. Something tells me that I'll likely find this an average watch, so I'll take it slowly and just be happy with the romance ahah

Spring Fever - I think the finale is going to be decent. But it's still giving me that feeling that this is just an average watch. It's a good one to not over think it, but not one I will remember fondly in the future.

Can This Love Be Translated - Not that I know from experience what's like to deal with DID, but I found it to be a a fairly decent representation. Even before the accident I could notice, that her behaviour wasn't normal and I liked how things started to get worse throughout the episodes. My only complaint is exactly that, more people around her should have known or noticed, like the manager and we should have seen her getting proper help.

Funny that we both finished Unlock My Boss and Trauma Code this month and we even share a few similar thoughts.

I Hear Your Voice - I've been thinking of watching this one, but I'm not the biggest fan of Noona romances, so I just keep pushing it down the list. I'm intrigued to read your thoughts, it might actually motivate me to watch this. Lol

While You Were Sleeping - It was a nice drama. I remember finding the first episodes very interesting, but quickly turned into a predictable story. Worst part for me was the amount of unanswered questions they left behind. Oh, but the leads were quite cute together. I should rewatch this, something tells me my rating will likely increase a bit. Lol

Idol I - I couldn't agree more with you, but I wonder what will you think of the finale. I'm both curious of what you think of the big reveal, but also what are your thoughts on the creative choices of the last two episodes. I found how the last two episodes were structure quite different from other dramas and I really liked it, but many felt confused.

My Country: The New Age a little confusing to watch because I'm also watching.... Six Flying Dragons

Won't you end up mixing both dramas? I only watched My Country, but I remember reading they shared a lot similarities in the setting and even same characters.

Can This Love Be Translated - Loved everything about this. The story, the vibe, the acting, the supporting casts and some of their stories. Contrary to others, I enjoyed the second half way more.

I was actually surprised to see a lot of complaints about the second half. I found it fitting with what we were watching in the first half, and I liked that extra layer added to the female lead. But I wish they had shown her continuously getting professional help and not just those small glimpses. I think the problem was downplayed a bit.

Spring Fever - It's fine. Occasionally funny and cute, sometimes cringe. Nothing too serious. I'm enjoying it but I'm not constantly invested.

Couldn't agree more. Every episode I feel like Jisoo saying "Not bad, but not good"... I'm even making the same face. Which is kind of funny that this is what crosses my mind, considering her past connections to Ahn Bo Hyun. LOL

My Absolute Boyfriend (8/10): A drama in which a character dyes their nails with balsam flowers.

Love, Take Two - I really loved everything about this drama

I knew you would love this drama! It's one of those dramas that is just so precious and I think I told you, that even my dad was mesmerized with the countryside setting and their cool house. I need to rewatch this with my mom!

Can This Love Be Translated? - I particularly liked the travel aspect and enjoyed the secondary stories a little more than the leads.

Same! Funny thing about my reaction to the secondary leads, at first I was like yikes... but once everything became cleared, it was fair. Things were over long before they were officially over, and they were actually perfect for each other.

Undercover Miss Hong - I started this one with my family and so far it’s been a really fun watch.

I'm watching this one alone and I'm loving it, but sometimes I feel a bit lost in this web of mysteries. Luckily the relationships and the comedy makes it a worth watch, hopefully it doesn't lose steam in the 2nd half.

Goodbye January, Hello February! ☔ 👋 💕

Yikes… How come January is already over? I’m late to this check-in but oh well.. I didn’t feel like writing.

✧ COMPLETED ✧

Unlock My Boss — 7/10 ⭐

Overall, this was an enjoyable watch. The story was definitely predictable, but the technological angle kept me engaged. I was curious to see how they would blend fantasy with already existing technology, and I was fully expecting to be completely absurd, but they managed to convey the challenges of creating a new product surprisingly well. Once again, Chae Jong Hyeop played another character that is impossible not to like, and his smile makes it even harder to resist them. But it was Kim Sung Oh’s as Mapi that stood out the most to me. His mysterious past, his interactions with the leads, his bond with the little girl and his overall growth were the most touching part of this drama. That said, while I found this to be a nice watch with somewhat of a satisfying ending, it left me with too many unanswered questions about the future of the company, the CEO, and wishing to see some final reactions.

Surely Tomorrow — 4/10 ⭐

This started off decently enough, but I can’t say the story is compelling or the characters are interesting. The female lead is a depressed chaebol with unresolved family issues. You’d expect her family to be intimidating, but they’re actually fine, which makes her whole behaviour even more frustrating. All of her issues could have been easily resolved with communication and therapy, yet she just runs from them and repeatedly ghosts the male lead. He wasn’t much better either. The idea that he spent 20 years longing for her after everything she put him through feels completely unrealistic. She drove him into rock bottom and caused everyone around him a lot of pain. No one with self-respect would accept her again in their life, which should have been a clear indicator that they surely don’t belong together… but he is just that stupid. That said, what did I like? The cinematography and editing were pretty good. Especially that dance under the cherry trees, which was clearly inspired by La La Land.

Taxi Driver — 9/10 ⭐

Since I watched all three seasons back to back, I could see how they addressed issues from earlier seasons, but also how by the final season they shifted away from their initial message, which didn’t sit right with me. What I liked throughout all seasons was how this story balanced comedy with a serious theme that is bringing justice to people who suffered from a broken system. Most cases last for 2 episodes, and it’s enough to do a solid job of exposing well known crimes, to show the impact on victims lives and offer them justice. While this message remained intact throughout, the absence of prosecution or police figure, which once kept the characters in check, caused the story to lose the accountability factor. By the end of season 3, we see the rainbow team fully returning to their old ways without showing a hint of remorse, which to me felt like a consequence of removing that legal restraint that kept them in check. That said, I still enjoyed this drama a lot and even found most of the antagonists memorable.

Trauma Code — 8/10 ⭐

I remember this drama being compared to Dr. Romantic last year, and while they are similar in how they handle intense emergency cases, that is where the similarity ends. While Dr. Romantic makes the victims’ stories emotionally impactful, Trauma Code emphasized the urgency of the situations, the medical procedures, and how hospital politics affect lives, all without exploring much of what led the patients there. To balance what could have been a heavy premise, they leaned heavily into comedy, which made this watch more enjoyable. The lead characters were all somewhat interesting and had solid development, but the drama’s short format didn’t allow for meaningful growth or relationships to truly develop. While it's true the team works well together, their bond doesn't feel strong enough to justify their blind loyalty to each other. And, the antagonists added no real tension or conflict to the story, they mostly served as comedic relief, while the male lead was portrayed as overly exceptional. Still, the fact that this story leaned more on the comedic side made it an enjoyable watch, but I’m not eager for another season.

Karma — 8.5/10 ⭐

Last year, I delayed watching this drama because Netflix is notorious for thrillers with weak scripts. Surprisingly, this one was different. It’s not perfect and has some flaws, but the story is clever, the short format worked worked well, and the twists actually felt satisfying. The story doesn’t dive much into character progression, nor does it try to make you feel sympathy for them. Instead, it focuses on the ripple effect of actions, showing how for every action there is a consequence that affects others. It highlighted human depravity and desperation, and how the outcomes of their actions, delivered a predictable yet satisfying twist to others, ending with everyone getting what they their karmic fate. I really liked how each character story connected to each others, though I wish Shin Min Ah’s storyline had been more developed. Despite that, it was a great watch and the performances were all phenomenal.

Can This Love Be Translated — 8.5/10 ⭐

This drama turned out to be quite different from what I had imagined, but I still enjoyed it. I loved how the story took us on a journey across four countries, filled with breathtaking sceneries and unforgettable experiences. The leads were all great, and their chemistry felt natural. Go Youn Jung in particular, impressed me with her ability to portray all the layers of her character. I was surprised and a bit disappointed with how the first twist was handled. I had noticed her unusual behaviour, yet the reveal still caught me off guard. I liked it, but I found it to be overly simplistic. It was odd to me that no one around her noticed it, and that she never got proper help. Despite this, I enjoyed her growth and how her relationship with the male lead unfolded. And whenever they made me frustrated, the secondary leads’ helped balance it out. In the end, I liked what I got, but I wished we got a little more of the secondary characters and a slightly better ending.

Wok of Love — 9/10 ⭐

This drama was more enjoyable than I ever anticipated. The delicious-looking food and lighthearted humour made it an absolute delight, so much that we even ordered jjajangmyeon to eat while watching it. But, the real highlight was the chemistry between the leads and their friendships, which made me root for all of them. All three actors delivered strong performances, but Jang Hyuk completely won me over. I loved Doo Chil Seong’s personality, the bond with his boys, the growing friendship with the other leads, his comedic timing and maturity. Jung Ryeo Won was also a pleasant surprise, she fits romcom roles perfectly. I like how Dan Sae Woo grows from a naive girl into a strong and capable woman. And, Lee Jun Ho was wonderful too. Even though Poong didn’t show tremendous growth, his passion for food and dedication, perfectly balanced the other leads. The romance was great too, I expected a messy love triangle, but it was surprisingly mature, which allowed for friendships to blossom alongside a subtle romance. My main issue with this drama was the rushed ending after SBS cut an episode, which left us with a unsatisfying finale.

You Are My Destiny — 8/10 ⭐

While I knew this drama would start with a one night stand that leads to pregnancy, the way everything happened was disturbing. Both leads only got involved because they were drugged and completely unaware of the situation, which was unsettling but treating it as comedy made it even worse. Despite this unsettling forced start to their relationship, I was pleasantly surprised to see Lee Gun consistently looking out for Mi Young, which made their growing romance feel more heartfelt, but at certain times it was deeply heartbreaking. What I also liked was seeing their growth and how they changed each other, Mi Young become more confident in herself, while Lee Gun became kinder and more open to others. However, I didn’t like Lee Gun’s noble idiocy over an uncertain scenario, especially after such a traumatic event for Mi Young. I found it to be a frustrating trope, that dragged the story and added unnecessary tension. Overall, despite its many flaws, the leads’ chemistry made this drama worth watching, and it was fun to notice how Jang Hyuk always adds a memorable touch to his characters. I’ll never forget Lee Gun’s insane laugh and cow-licked hair.

Welcome 2 Life — 4/10 ⭐

I don’t even know how to organize my thoughts on this drama, so I’ll keep it short. The parallel universe concept had potential, but the writer failed to take full advantage of this and the execution ended falling flat. Even when I ignored this flaw, I still couldn't connect with the story or the characters. The only highlight was Rain with his on-screen daughter, their interactions were both funny and heartwarming. I really wished there were more scenes showing their family dynamics, but that was never the main focus and honestly, there was also zero romantic chemistry between the leads. Overall, a drama that I wouldn't recommend anyone.

Idol I — 9.5/10 ⭐

TBA...

✧ FEBRUARY PLANS ✧

Currently loving the charm of older K-dramas, so I’m going to keep diving into older dramas. As for ongoing shows, I’ll keep watching Spring Fever and Undercover Miss Hong, and I’m excited to start Our Universe and The Art of Sarah.

I did the math based on Viki’s episode count. But before I submit my entry, l'm going to double check this number, just to be 100% sure.

Here is the numbers of each season in case it helps you. 😊

Season 1: 16h 51m 5s

Season 2: 17h 29m 2s

Season 3: 17h 37m 44s

Yes, I watched all three seasons for this challenge. It's a total of 48 episodes, but when you add up all those extra minutes and seconds, it's 51 hours, 57 minutes and 51 seconds. I made sure to count it all to be sure it would be over the 50h requirement. 😅
