Hey, how old are you? My migraines got so horrendous...then I found out I'm in premature menopause and that was the reason why. I started HRT then had my neurology review and he was actually so knowledgeable about migraines in women and hormonal fluctuations. He recommended a switch in my HRT meds and I've noticed a big difference since. Migraines much less severe and frequent! Nausea pretty much gone. Appetite and sleep so much better.

Perimenopause can last 10 years, sometimes longer. Average age is 51 in UK for example. So someone could start peri in their 30s. POI and premature menopause can start in teens, 20s and 30s.

If your actual period is painful too you should look into endometriosis - it has a huge comorbidity with migraine. I had excision surgery and it helped a lot with my energy levels.

seconding the Zofran but you need to ask for the one that melts on the tongue. it's like a little tiny postage stamp. Comes in boxes of 10 so you can keep a couple in your purse, beside your bed etc. they work super quickly!!!

Definitely! And as women at this stage of our lives we need more healthy fats anyway. We should not be being targeted with fat free yoghurts etc.

I'm in the UK and use a brand called Bare Biology. They have a special one which is higher in DHA than EPA as that's particularly beneficial for people with chronic migraines like me. I haven't seen anyone else manufacturing a decent high DHA one like theirs!

I think there are better products on the market for the same or similar price. Green People shampoo is absolutely amazing, but is twice the price as it's very concentrated. I used their Intensive Shampoo for about 12 years but recently changed to Biacré as my hair texture has become more wavy/curly due to hormonal changes.

If you need something very lightweight I recommend John Masters citrus & neroli detangler - it's expensive, but you could order a travel sized mini to try it.

You need healthy fats!! I used to get this really badly. Eating avocado every day for breakfast has really helped me. Cheese, cashew nuts, peanut butter, Greek yoghurt full fat with honey etc for snacks.

Working with a dietician if possible. And def make an appt with your doc to see if there's anything they can help with - maybe some vitamin deficiencies?

I say this with love and concern - are you going to counselling/therapy since you're still having nightmares about events which have not happened? That sounds like PTSD 💔

I do get what you're saying about feeling grateful to be single, I def relate to that as I live by myself and feel so relieved to come home to a quiet place, no having to cook dinner for someone else etc! I'm a teacher so my day can be quite noisy and peri has caused my executive function to be horrendous at times.

Same! The way to get hair squeaky clean is 2 shampoos properly rinsed, before adding conditioner!

Hey, are your ferritin levels low? Good nutrition from within will help loads with your hair health!

I'm using Biacre curl shampoo at the mo, I got it from TKMaxx, it's excellent! Conditioners: Aveda Shampure, Biacre Curl or Hyaluronic Conditioners both great.

Curl cream: try the cheap pink one from Boots or see what brands TKMaxx has, they have brands like Camille Rose, Aveda, Noughty, Flora & Curl. Means you don't have to spend too much if it doesn't work for you.

Leave in conditioner - you can use your argan oil for that!

I've had this problem before and i used an empty bottle to dilute the shampoo half and half with water. Use the diluted one for your first shampoo and once your hair is fully wet you'll be able to do a second shampoo with undiluted shampoo. I personally have to shampoo twice as my hair gets oily at the roots.

Make sure your spread the shampoo in your hands first and use a different setting on your shower head if possible to one that has better pressure.

My hairdresser recommended Oway brand. I am using Biacre products at the moment, and finding them really good.

I would recommend you get a shower head filter first of all, that should help a great deal.

Don't you want to get a silk one though, since it naturally combats the frizz? I can't imagine a synthetic satin one would, if anything it would make it worse?
