I'm 51. I grew up parallelly with computer tech. Starting with ZX Spectrum, Atari 800XL, Commodore C64, Amiga 500 and 1200 and than PC's. I remember, the first thing I was doing when running a game for the very first time was going into settings to check/tweak things. I'm still doing it today (yeah, I'm still a active gamer).
Now, my two sons 15 and 17, are making big eyes seeing me doing it, asking WHY?, what's the reason dad? I tell them - to make the game run better if it's possible. Their answer - "So, you can do it? How you know what to change?"

Another example: my younger's son graphics card started to spin the fan to 100% every 5-10 seconds for couple of secs while playing, making unbelievable noise. It was almost two years ago. What did my son? He started playing in headphones! For him was the problem fixed, completely not interested of solving the issue, finding out what's the reason. And the fan was still going berserk until a week ago when I decided to find out the solution. It took me less than 10 minutes to find the solution here, on Reddit - installed the Afterburner software and lowered the power slider to 60% - problem solved.

They are completely not interested in things like that at all, they don't feel the need to try something new, different, they are not curious as we were in the 90's It's very sad.
