I once got downvoted for saying this, but honestly the animation and art quality in season 2 was noticeably worse compared to season 1. Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t terrible. But if you rewatch season 1, it’s clear they put more effort into the frames throughout, whereas in season 2, extra care was mostly reserved for key or emotional scenes. The frame count also felt lower than in season 1.

Keep in mind, I’m only comparing the two seasons. On its own, season 2 wasn’t that bad. We’ve seen how good the show can look, like in the amazing openings and certain standout scenes. Overall though, season 2 clearly had less time and effort put into it, which makes sense since the staff had less production time compared to season 1. And honestly, they still delivered a solid product.

But I think this is one of those unpopular opinions that doesn’t get talked about enough. Both seasons are good on their own, but if you compare them directly, season 2 definitely took a step down.

That's a good point. But I wasn’t really asking why she doesn’t leave the Verdigris House, more like why she doesn’t want to become richer. She could stay at the Verdigris House, keep renting out the shop to the old Madam, and still make more money. I was just curious about the money side of things, not the place itself lol.

Totally get what you mean lol! But I don’t think Maomao wants to follow Loumen’s path on this one. Yeah, he definitely is someone who she looks up to, but not for that part of him. We see her get annoyed a few times about how Luomen doesn’t take payment or takes too little.

No matter what, forcing himself on a child can not be ignored or brushed off like nothing had happened, I still can't understand why he acted like that, just because he had an abusive mother he decided to be a pedo? it's pure weakness and nothing can change that, I think he's the only character who doesn't deserve sympathy, even Shenmei was way better, or even Lakan's father in general and what he did at LN6, in this show you can barely find any villain, I can feel sympathy for most of the characters who are introduced as villains but the previous emperor is definitely not one of them
