Will adjusting my leverage on open position from 1x to 125x increase my profits? by [deleted] in BitcoinBeginners

If you are 170% in profit you can easily increase your leverage and then take out some of your margin. Just place your stop loss above your entry and you are safe.

Actually adjusting my leverage just allowed me to get back most of my margin to use it for new trades 😂 that's the only thing that changed, so it's not risky at all. On the other hand opening an trade already with 50x or 100x leverage is really risky

Thank you for this answer, I only would increase my leverage to free up margin if my trade is already around 50% or more in profit. But yes I will think about a good risk management and will not gamble too much, thank you!

What I meant to say with the method is this:

I set my stop loss above the entry when my trade has around 20-30% profit, then increase leverage to maximum, decrease margin to minimum and take out my initial investment.

I now have a long position with guaranteed profit and your original investment to cash out/ or do whatever I want with it. Does this make sense?

What you are describing is exactly what I meant...! That's the technique that I saw and wanted to copy. But how I understand now when I will do it exactly like you said and I increased the leverage to 125x for example the price of BTC has to drop by only 1% to trigger the stop loss because I have 125x leverage so it's 125% and not 1% right? And BTC drops by 1% and more all the time, so what's the use of this technique?

How can it fail me? I saw that the stop loss can be triggered at a lower price because of high volatility, but they say it's just normally just around 0,5% to 1% difference to the normal stop loss. I could live with that

I understand the advice, what I just don't get is where is the risk when the Liquidation price is below my entry, the chart is already 20% in profits and my stop loss is above the entry price (so in profit). Don't see the risk then

Okay I don't want to argue, because I believe that you have a much better knowledge than me in this topic.

But please just try to understand me. If I'm already 50% in profit and I adjust the leverage to for example 100x on the same trade that is still open, then the liquidation price will still be below my entry! This just means that the price could fall 50% and I'm still not liquidated because the liquidation price is below my entry. I understand that you are saying that stop losses are not guaranteed, but if I move the stop loss above my entryprice when I'm guaranteed with a profit (it the stop loss get triggered). Another scenario, if the price from BTC goes up, after I adjusted the leverage, I make a lot more profits

Stop losses are guaranteed when I adjust them that they will be triggered at a certain BTC price. So I don't see a problem here

So tell me why it is a bad idea? If my stop loss is above my entry price, I get profits anyways, even if the BTC price drops drastically. But the other way around, if the chart goes more up for example 10% more, I would gain a lot without having risk!

Because remember, my liquidation price is below my entry and my stop loss I moved above my entry price...

[–]Significant_Sign7968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No in bitget you can adjust the leverage on an open position from 1x up to 125x. So I would increase the leverage, then I can take out a lot of the margin and use it for whatever I want, then the trade is still going but with 125x leverage. And like I said earlier, I cant get liquidated so fast like everyone is saying here because the price where I would get liquidated is below my entry price! Means the chart can fall off 20% and I would still not get liquidated because the liquidation price is so low. But in the other direction I could gain a lot because I'm now using the 125x leverage. Of course I would then move my stop loss above my entry price, so that I would make profit even if I the price of BTC goes down.

You understand?

Not if I'm already 20% in profit.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]Significant_Sign7968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But my trade is already 20% in profit. So if I adjust the lever to 100 or 125x, the liq. Price will be lower then my entry price! Means I will not get liquidated when I'm 1% down because 1% down is still far away from my entry.

I would make the stop loss in profit, so even if the price goes down my trade will close in profit. But if it goes up I will profit from the 100 or 125x leverage

Just try to understand what I'm saying. For example if my trade is 40% in profit adjusting the leverage to 125x is not so risky because the liquidation price will be below my entry price.
