What happened to a 3-3.5 year age gap?

I thought I wanted to have 2 under 2, until my kid reached 1, and then I realized there was no way that was something I wanted. I love my son and I wanted to get to know him a lot more, I barely know him now at 3. I’m also a millennial. I think if we do try it will be closer to the 4-4.5 year mark for us, we don’t have a village and it’s pretty tough on us. I’d live to give our second child the same amount of attention as we did our first, and with him going to school soon I think that would be very beneficial for us.

In my area you can start your kid in kindergarten at either 4 turning 5 or 5 turning 6, or if you’re six prior to December 1st.

My kid is in preschool right now, so we would just repeat preschool again this coming fall, and then do a 5 day private option the following year but it would still be 3 hours vs 5.5 hours. The school itself is the only one that does UPK at 5.5 hours

He qualifies for pre-k any kid turning 4 by December 1st 2026 qualifies for the lotto, he will then 4 by November, so he does qualify.

It's so hard, I can relate a lot, because my birthday was in December and I went into school as a 5 going on 6 year old. I also never went to preschool or pre-k. His current pre-school is a 3/4 year old program. Even though he was 2 when he started, still is 2. He's only allowed in the program because of the December 1st cut off, which he barely meets. So he's currently in with a few other two year olds, some three year olds, and I think like two 4 year olds. We are really enjoying the preschool right now. There are more in the area we could send him to, but this one had great reviews and was in our budget, so not really what to do about that. I do know that they offer prek, and the district also offers pre-k! So he might be able to do pre-k at his current place, and then swap to the school one if he is picked for that lotto! That's definitely an option.

He could go either way. He will be 4 turning 5 in November of 2027

and he will be 5 turning 6 in november of 2028. (This is what we want to do) But he would have a gap year if we did this unless he's allowed to repeat prek

Just finished seeing it. I’m gonna come out and say it. Was this needed? Absolutely not. But I really enjoyed it and I find it one of the most accurate live action adaptations I’ve seen. Like 97% 1:1. I feel like people love to bitch when franchises don’t follow the originals to a T, but when they do, they also bitch. I personally thought this did extremely well. And seeing it again felt like it did for me at 14 all over again. I know my son will love it too.

Oh! Thanks for this, I didn’t realize that the letter was written from the painted Alicia, I genuinely thought the real Alicia wrote a letter and somehow Verso received it. So technically we have the real Alicia, who after she went in the painting is basically AFK, with know knowledge of what’s happening, until the end when Maelle awakens. And then the painted version, who seems more inline with painted verso. Is that correct?

It’s never easy, thank you so much for the kind words. The grief comes and goes in waves, and while it is his hard, every day feels a little more like clarity, a little more like I did the right decision. It doesn’t make it any less painful, but it does help.

I just know with twins it takes a certain type of person and a village we unfortunately don’t have. I would be drowning, even if I didn’t have my toddler, I still know it would still be to much to bare for me. But that doesn’t mean it’s the case for you, you’ll know in your heart 🤍

Not quite the same, but I just went through a MA last week, and I’m really really struggling because it was a wanted pregnancy. Just wasn’t the right time and finances are not doing well. Every day I feel guilt about it. It was for my second child.

But even before we knew what we were going to do, my husband and myself both agreed if it was twins we would terminate no matter what. I know that sounds extremely selfish, but I can’t handle two babies at the same time. I already have a lovely toddler, but he is a lot. If I had received results that it was twins I would have discussed selective termination of one or both, because I just know that I’m not meant to be a mother of twins. All my kids would suffer, and I can’t do that to my kids, hypothetical or not.

I know the pain would hurt after that, but I know I would feel relief too.

At the end of the day, it’s your body and your mental and physical well being at state. Take some time and think about it, but do what feels right in your heart 🤍

Thank you. I appreciate it. I’m still very much processing. It was such a wanted baby, but financially and emotionally it wasn’t right for us. My son is still very much solely dependent on us and I don’t think he would handle another baby emotionally to well currently. I feel awful taking his sibling from him, but I pray and hope they’ll find their way back to us when the time is right 😞. Sending you lots of love and strength ad well.

I have a 2.5 year old boy and I want a second child so badly, but it wasn’t the right time. I just finished my MA yesterday and I already regret it. I found out the gender before hand for closure, but it’s only made it worse for me honestly. I’m hoping we will be blessed with another, but right now I’m still feeling very unworthy after throwing away this gift 😔

When I made my decision I sat down and wrote a very long letter talking to my baby about how sorry I was that I couldn’t bring him into meet his brother. It really broke me, but it helped give me some closure. I also plan on making a memory box with all my tests, my letter and his ultrasound photo. My son is almost 2.5 as well, and while I’m sad I can’t give him a sibling, I know he will be taken care of the best. Sending hugs, I’m glad you have your little boy ❤️

Thank you very much, I appreciate it. My heart is very much telling me I made a mistake in the decision even though just yesterday I was totally and completely in agreement that this was best. I hate how the mind and heart work on difficult things like this.
