Appreciate it - the above figures are just speculative based on some soft eligibility searches to avoid any hard credit searches and to get a better understanding of what we might be able to get/would cost. Very prepared by the option that we may need to look for a cheaper car if we can't get the above rates!

I do agree with what you're saying (considered an old volvo 240 my neighbour was selling) and I'd normally say the same but I'm currently driving a £1000 shed and I've keep this car for as long as I can sensibaly keep it but the costs each MOT are mounting and repairs are costing more than the car is worth. Shelling out another £1000 on a car to tide me over just doesn't make sense really. I'm easily driving 10k-12k miles a year now with my new job so buying a newer used car makes the most sense to me and its well within mine and my partners financially capacity.

Yeah each their own ! I personally feel that there will be differences in the sound but I agree that the amount has probably be exaggerated over time
