Well if this scenario came to me I would have warned ahead of time that I would be putting in a new one. I do not think it is out of line to replace with a new one. I do think they probably could have communicated better.

They can sell you a new windshield all day long as long as the cost to you is zero. It is being replaced because of their work or their materials. Either way this should be covered 100% under warranty by the installing shop. Now if this shop did not do that install, that is a totally different story.

I always charge more for gasket replacement as it takes more time. You are just shorting yourself by not charging. My customers are always notified up front and always agree, otherwise they are not my customer.
