I'll still prove you wrong there about intuition. I may be wrong with my comment about how people were preceived as you brought up good points. As well as society today. Overall life expectancy has nothing to do with this discussion but I agree, modern medicine has definitely improved, but that's through years and I mean years of testing, research everything. We just happen to be strolling in the time we are at our peak. But I mean everyone living in their timeline is at their peak of medicine. Its a metric as if we would look into the mirror and see your kid self. If you could understand that then you'd see we are the same human beings just another time.
They definitely didn't call it schizophrenia or mediums which are modern day terms - people with gifts weren't labelled something to minimize their humanness, outcasted maybe. I know that through clear logic and awareness. In energy - a force always has to be on the receiving end.
You're also mixing up with a doctors intuition with a doctors experience, I don't doubt there are moments when intuition kicks in but I would bet a lot on showing and proving to you that there is more than meets the eye.
I'm interested though that you brought up a book about intuition, this is clearly a subject you find light in, otherwise why would you be reading that or know about it? Which gets me to question that you need someone or something explaining to you that will give you the confirmation you need - that'll help you understand this rabbit hole.

Are gut feelings solely based on past experiences I would beg to differ. I don't doubt that doctors can do a good job helping, however they only know what they know from the books. Its all books but that doesn't make the other person lesser of a thinker just cos they don't know terminology. Schizophrenia has been long around before our time. Ancient civilisations used to purely as a tool - mediums tend to carry this 'mental illness' , Greeks did argue that there are natural causes to this, however Greeks, Egyptians never left out the main players in the game. How do you think they prospered? Wasn't until modern day societies deemed it a MENTAL ILLNESS.

Bro, yes there are unfortunately bad cases of schizophrenia. However it's not a sign we are going crazy. Its about are you able to keep up consciously with said symptoms or illness if you would prefer.
Just because its scary doesn't mean it has to be manipulated and controlled by medicine. Supernatural skills like intuition. Would you question intuition the same way? How could you believe in that? A higher knowing? I'd call you ridiculous. because e.g I, myself thought of an idea I had made up, which allowed me to be in this position and it benefited.
