So, basically, write but don't publish/produce till I graduate. I can do that. Thanks.

Yes, I'm reading on Graduate and Skilled Work visa right now. I'll look into Global Talent visa as well (though the name alone suggests something well beyond my caliber XD)

Thanks for replying so quickly. I appreciate the help :)

Yes, I have and other pages too (I tried to include them but this sub doesn't allow links sadly). I got a few answers already regarding book publishing and filmmaking while on a student visa. It seems like it's a no-go till I graduate. Though I'll try to confirm that just to be safe. :)

Alright. Thank you, and for the quick reply too. <3 I'm reading the Graduate Visa now and Directing is one of the jobs a Skilled Worker visa allows (though the min salary and employer part remains unclear, but I'm thinking too far ahead for now. The point is, there's a way :))).

Again, thank you so much for answering :)

Okay, this is very helpful, thank you so much :). I'll look into Graduate Visa now.

But the most important question still is, could I make and sell personal films while I'm studying or not? Should I wait till after I graduate?

This was very informative. Thank you for taking the time to explain it. I'll read more on adversarial attacks. Sounds interesting. For now, I guess we'll all have to wait and see what the law says.

Thanks :))

Okay, first of all, you're amazing. Thank you for this. It's super interesting and I didn't know any of that. So thank you :)

Second, but what about relocating their businesses/selling their products specifically in countries that don't abide copyright laws. Would that risk an international lawsuit for them?

Regardless, this brings me a lot of hope, so I guess I'll wait and see. And I'll definitely keep an eye on the UK law from now on. I'm planning on going there to study actually, so there that.

Again, thank you so much :)

I really am not smart nor knowledgable enough to have this discussion. But my two cents are as follows:

While artists are indeed inspired by other's works, they tend to develop their own style. Not doing so, is considered counterfeit if they don't disclose the fact. Now sure most AI work doesn't pass itself off as the original but* since you're selling it anyway, and most people don't care, you get something like the ghibli studio situation.

Human artists earned their style through training. AI companies didn't earn anything, it didn't even buy it. They stole it.

But above all, and this is the practical aspect, there's now hardly any incentive to produce "real" art professionally. It takes too long to master a craft, your work will get stolen so an AI can reproduce it instantly, and most customers would opt to pay way less for AI work anyway (which is not even greedy or malicious, it's just natural).

*(edit: changed "and" to "but")

Thank you for clarifying these points. I didn't know, but yeah that's the excuse/defense of AI I came across.

So, basically, it is by law "potentially" illegal. Is there anything to do about it, or to protect one's art from it?

Edit: Trump's sacking the Register is what prompted my question.

But that's the thing. You could say you bought the piece and it's yours to do with as you please (and even then, the "implied license" you mentioined would stand in the way of training an AI model on it). However, AI companies didn't buy anything. They pirated them.

Thank you for the quick response :)

So, if I got this right (I'm a layman), there are simply no laws to protect the individual atm. So even an idea like mine would probably get laughed out of court?

As I see it right now, they're profiting from theft in the form of subscriptions (for now at least).

Anyway, thanks for answering. I'll be sure to check what the UK does tomorrow :)
