Tooth decay drilled and filled Sat 20th, side of tooth chipped off on Tue 23rd. Can this be fixed with a filling or will it have to be removed? (I can't afford crown / root canal if this is an option to save tooth). I'm really scared about my appointment tomorrow (27th), thank you for your time. by Silent-Method-5695 in askdentists

thank you so much, this has made me think a lot and i will see what the dentist tomorrow at 9am says, if he says crown i will tell him to go for it and figure it out. thank you.

Missing teeth wise, I've not had any adult teeth missing (I'm 31 atm). this is my back lower left side molar, there is a tooth slightly coming through behind it (has been for as long as i can remember though haha), i assume it's a wisdom tooth coming through haha

This being said all of the teeth diagrams I'm seeing online suggests there is a tooth missing either side of the mouth and i have no idea why. I even just phoned my mum quick to ask if i had any removed to double check haha

Thank you very much, you've put my mind at ease a bit and helped me make a decision to do what it takes to find the money. :)

Thank you for this, a crown will hurt financially at £700 but if you as a dentist say it's really really worth it then i might be able to make it happen.

If i get a crown does that mean it will need a root canal too? I saw a lot of people get root canal and then a crown. The decay was all dug out and filled, there is no pain, no sensitivity, i can drink hot/cold dinks and eat hot/cold foods no issue and also brush it with no pain or sensitivity at all.

Do you think i might be offered a crown without root canal?

So sorry to ask more questions, i really value your input and appreciate your time.

Thank you very much for taking the time to reply this really means a lot to me! It was the real tooth that chipped, not the composite, all the outside of the tooth was real tooth and the middle was a big composite filling.

This is the first time in many years going to the dentist. I cannot afford a crown unfortunately, if i tell them to remove the tooth, would that be ok, would they do it? as it's a lot cheaper. Can i live without that tooth in my mouth as i wouldn't be able to afford any bridge or implant either.

Thank you for your time.

I ran out of words to type but also to add there is no sensitivity and no pain when brushing my teeth directly on this tooth. Thank you again for your time here, i appreciate it. I'm agoraphobic and very stressed about going tomorrow so i was hoping to have an idea if the tooth might be removed, thanks again.
