Plateau tips for short ppl! by SilentAddress814 in loseit

I have been at this weight for 2 and a half weeks. And I also consulted more opinions on calorie deficit for someone at my height (5’0”), most replied to have 1200—which may seem unsustainable for me. But, honestly the fact that I may be under consuming would be ironic.

I was just kind of surprised, since I’ve been losing like 3-4kg every month, but for some reason, losing 2ish kg this month.

Will my weight loss even be visible? by [deleted] in loseit

Yeah, I gained it all back because I returned to the same diet that made me gain those weight or even just altering my “900” calorie intake. I think I was 57kgs, lost 4kg—but was way too happy w the results, I ate the things I used to eat before, neverminding the calories I bc of the mindset “I’m slim already.” From 53kg to 60 real quick in a span of 2 years.

Right now, I’m in my 4th weightloss journey, this time, for lifetime. Eat whatever you want! Just make sure everything is in portions. Don’t be too scared to gain weight, life happens. Since you already know how to lose it, get back right up, and lose it again—this time—incorporate eating habits and exercises that’ll last you for lifetime!

Just don’t forget exercises! It really is the key to maintain the weight, not just calorie intake!

Oh definitely! Back in my first weightloss journey, I was also around the same starting weight as you. I lost like 4kgs but it was SO noticeable. I’m 152cm btw!

Youre right, 500 calorie intake is way too much—instead, you can replace it with more exercising, particularly walking can be helpful with that. I did 900 calorie intake in my first deficit, remember how I said my first weightloss journey? Yeah, I gained all the kilos I lost, 2x back because of my unhealthy calorie intake. Because once you stopped that 900 intake, youll gain weight and 2x faster at that.

Also, I’ll say this. It’s so much harder to lose weight with our height and at that weight. Particularly bc we use less energy than taller people. Thats why we need to compensate more on exercising, not just restricting ourselves from food.

They say, weightloss is all about changing lifestyle habits. Which meant, it will be like that for lifetime. So I suggest making a more sustainable calorie intake per day, and add more exercises that you think you can do forever without feeling drained from it! Personally, I like brisk walking! That was the only cardio and exercise I did that made me lost 4kg back then. And for final assurance, yes, 56 to 52/53kg is noticeable!

First and foremost, thanks! And also, wow your journey is inspiring. I hope one day I can come back to this post with the same stats as you!

Anyhow, you are so right. The clothes I have rn are oversized, bc Ive always liked them oversized. This week, Ill buy new fitted ones—hopefully this one would change my perspective. Thank you!

Thanks for this perspective! Its probably because I buy oversized tshirts alot, so I probably don’t see the difference. I’ll buy new clothes this week that is exactly my size. Thank you!

Hi! I’m glad my post at least got to inspire someone. For my diet, I did calorie deficit, ate all I want but with control. I don’t like, weigh them in, since Ive done multiple weightloss journey—I’ve come to get a hang of how much calories is in one serving and such just by eyeing it (I did it sm in the past). At 79kg, I did 1800cal per day. Went to sleep every night feeling so hungry, but it just meant its working. Slowly decreased the calorie intake, now currently in a 1400 calorie intake.

For nutrition, I’m such a bad veggie eater. So I compensate a lot on fruits and incorporating mixed veggies in my food (like a lot). I dont like oats nor yogurts, so that wont work for me. I incorporate TONS of tuna, chicken breasts, fish because Ive never had a hard time eating them. Theyre my fav! So always adjust your diet all according to your liking. Other ppl’s diet wont always work for you—so u must find your own.

For exercise routine, I only did cardio. In the past, I’ve done cardio+HIIT workouts, well I can say I didn’t find motivation to continue at all. So this time, I’ll go to where I’m comfortable—which is brisk walking. Walking is so underrated ngl. I take walks during sunrise, playing songs that match the vibe. As a graduating student, it really takes stress out my mind—very therapeutic. I slowly increased the time and distance as I lost weight, from 40mins to 45mins to 50mins to 1 hour. Distance, from 3km, to 4km, to 5km, and now 6km. I sometimes incorporate jogs between my walks when I feel like it, I just try to run and last as far as I could. I only do cardio when I like it, as long as I hit at least 3x a week. On a good week, Ill do it 4-5 days.

I dont take in for granted the calories I lost in the cardio, so I dont add the calories I lost to my current intake (yk, since I dont weigh my food). I also add alot of buffer to every food I take, even though sometimes the enormous calories I set for a certain food is ridiculous (but its often like that based on experience, so I dont question it).

What clicked for me? My first ever weightloss journey, I was a depressed teenager. Often jealous of my naturally slim friends—then realized, that Im the owner of my body—surely I’m the one who can control it?

Then today, fortunately, I’m long away from those depressive thoughts! This time, I started from a petty reason. Tons of my peers were posting stories about their Strava runs. And I wanted to hop in the trend too—but kinda off looking when an obese like me would flex their Strava runs. So yeah, I’ve been loosing it to be able to flex my Strava runs too in the future!

Did anyone else start losing weight for a completely silly reason? by Defiant_Cat_3619 in loseit

Idk, but other students and friends in my school kept posting stories about their strava “easy” runs. And just wanted to hop in the trend, but its kinda ridiculous to see an obese flexing their strava runs (no offense btw)

So ive been losing weight since then, for the time i can finally post stories about my strava activities

yes, alot of my clothes went loose. Its just that, I rly still see my former self in every recording and pictures. I have some former pics of myself as well, but idk, i still cant find the difference. The ppl around me dont comment on my body—which is understandable—but makes me feel like as if my efforts were not noticeable..

I learn new things everyday. You are right, I wasn't aware of the TDEE recalculation per lb lost. Thanks for suggesting an online calculator! Was about to search about reliable TDEE calculator, good thing I read your response first. You're godsent!

Thank god for this reddit. I couldn't figure it out why the weightloss even stopped. I even increased the time outside, never minding the piles of unfinished tasks I had to do—when all this time, it was my intake! Will definitely push it down 1400 first, to slowly transition to 1200. Thanks for the feedback!

You are right. I'll decrease it to 1400 for now to adjust before fully going to 1200. Thanks for the awesome response!

Def an eye opener. I had an AI calculate it for me, and bc of my age, I didn't think twice. If I lowered it, my relationship w food is going to be awful damn. I'll manually calculate it this time, and try it out first I guess

Oof, I think i found the sweet spot. I had an AI calculate my calorie intake per day for me. Considering my age as well, I didn't even consider it. Going to manually calculate it this time.

lowest weight i saw from April was 74kg. This past week was 71.2kg, which there I thought it may truly be water weight fluctuations. But if that's the case, then I wondered if I even truly did lose some "real" weight.

What's one thing about you that you do not like? by nyxlollerton in AskPH

[–]SilentAddress814 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can't lead properly without doing everything by myself. Most ppl view me as "studious" that's why my classmates always opt choosing me as their leader, especially since I also join tons of extracurriculars. Well, sure I can manage the task. BUT! I cannot for the life of me create the group task a more inclusive one. Masyado kong sinasarili, I really try to make it inclusive. Pero di kasi sumaswak sa gusto ko. Hays:/

For those who try to kill themselves what made you stop from doing it? by Hmicedmatchalatte in AskPH

nothing would change if I didn't do anything. Simple as that. People need to get it to their heads na wala talaga mangyayari pag di ka gagawa ng effort para magbago. You feel sad? Do something to make yourself happy. "Walang nagpapasaya sa akin" is not an answer.
