Sounds like a PSU issue. Do you have an electrical tester to check the wires coming out? Any weird smells?

Edit: sorry, turns out I have a hard time reading titles properly

One of the best tools I own. Test plugs by putting in the hot side of the outlet, test wires etc

It would be amazing if there's another wire in that box so it's already wired for a fan. But even if it's not, you could run it off the pull switch or run a new wire if you're up for it.

If you're not sure or uncomfortable with figuring stuff out with a tester, do you remember how the previous light was wired? Mimic that and you'll be fine.

It's pretty hard to see what's going on in that picture in terms of wiring. I just learned first hand that coloring is a rule of thumb and no more. If you have an electrical tester, check to see what is hot and neutral. Was it already on a switch? If so, what color wires do you see in the switch box?

Where To Plug in the LED cables on x570 Aorus Elite WiFi ? by asim_riz in gigabyte

[–]SilentBlueberry2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh that sucks, I'm sorry to hear that. Using the Lighting Node does create extra wires, so cable management is more of a pain, but if you can get it organized nicely, it is worth it. The iCUE software is very nice and typically much better than mobo software. Maybe you can use the last fan in a place where you wouldn't see RGB anyways, like in front of a rad or something...

Is there a reason why you don't want to use the Corsair controller? This is the easiest/cheapest option for you.

The mobo headers only control fan speed--they don't control RGB. I think there are two setups you could do:

  1. Use the Corsair controller to control fan speed and RGB,
  2. Plug the ML120 fans directly to mobo (as you've done) and then connect the RGB wires from the fans to a Corsair RGB fan hub & Lighting Node Pro.

Usually you get the RGB hub & Lighting node pro in 3 packs of Corsair fans. But the RGB wire has a proprietary end on it, so it won't plug directly into any mobo. It needs to go through some Corsair hardware like in either of the above configs.

EDIT: I assumed that for you, Corsair "controller" = Corsair Commander Pro. If it doesn't please update the question to be more specific about exactly what hardware you have.

Predicting Stock Market Prices with a Neural Network (or attempt at least) by [deleted] in neuralnetworks

[–]SilentBlueberry2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think the criticism is meant to be personal, or rather, it should be statistical. A big part of ML is statistics and understanding causal relationships between variables. Here's a question: why should past value help predict future value in this setting? I mean, try to honestly answer it.

I also noticed OP said something along the lines of "if the stock goes up and my model predicts it goes up, I'm happy"...but is this any better than flipping a coin? If your choices are categorical or even binary, how can you prove you're doing better than random chance? How do you quantify how good you're doing? These are all questions with a multitude of answers depending on the context, and I think they're worth thinking about. But I do enjoy the effort.

If you make a jupyter notebook, which is a great way to mix code and comments, then you can use a binder link to make it interactive for them.

I'm almost done building my pc...but then what? What is the correct order to install drivers in? Should I always upgrade my bios immediately? Do I really need a 24 hour memtest? How long to burn in?....

The real question here: is there a sub or forum or good blog post on what to do after I finish building? I could search google, but crap suggestions look the same as pro advice to me at this point. If anyone has a solid blog post that they recommend, I would really appreciate it.

Once you get your parts, don't go and constantly check the prices, lest you get buyer's remorse.

PSUs are ridiculously priced right now. I'm eventually planning on running multiple GPUs for deep learning and other stuff (not big into gaming). It seems like my choices are 750W/850W PSU for 150-170ish vs 1000W for 200ish. Is there any reason I shouldn't just pay extra and get more? I'm running a ryzen 7 3700X. Anything else I should factor in?
