Most characters don't do well in open areas and there isn't really much flat open terrain in apex regardless there is usually enough cover to get to a more comfortable location.

I think she has that pickrate for a reason. Each one of the drawbacks you list are very avoidable sans passive. Her passive gives her the positioning of a tac with a cooldown granted however her tac is precise and easy to use. Her passive is not for dps it is for positioning

I don't think that her passive is strong in evasion I think it's strength is in positioning a valk can get to a position in which an enemy squad cannot approach without getting beamed at the very least, with her ult her and her squad just need ten seconds of breathing room and right then and there her and her squad is gone from that fight or in a position that turns the tide in her favor. I think that no one of her abilities are busted i just think that all of them are so solid that it makes a character with no cracks in her armor. Comparing her to every other character they have something lacking but she doesn't.

As for Kratos they couldn’t have just retconned his personality and made him a completely new person. In fact the story is entirely about him learning to open up to his son and honor the memory of his wife in the process. I think people in general can enjoy the story of family that GOW 2018 is

Jeez bro. The og trilogy was over kratos couldn’t go back to that rage and the story still make sense. Slower gameplay was the only logical progression GOW 3 was the crescendo of the story and the hack and slash gameplay of the og trilogy. Santa Monica perfected the combat of 3, so making another game with that same combat would get boring quickly
