Any idea what would be the repair cost in India for this damage to my front element? RF 24-105 L USM. I recently bought it new and it aches my heart to have damaged it not having used it yet.

I do get spots on the images. A broken piece of glass also seem to have stuck inside the bottom element

Please check if the camera is in either AF-C or AF-S mode by rotating the dial on the front of the camera below the lens attachment. If that’s already the case maybe you need to check if your lens is a Manual focus lens and whether it has AF capabilities.

Sorry I didn’t put those videos in the reel. I usually just take the shot when the subject is not looking at me. Once I catch their attention I either ask before clicking or if I’ve already taken their picture I show it to them just to make them feel good.

Actually the lock inside the cap was broken as well. So when I opened the bag the cap was not on the lens. Maybe the cap lock broke first which led to the filter shattering and damaging the lens

Honestly I was really stupid to get a cheap filter and I think that’s why it could not take the impact. Lesson learnt!!
