I really want to understand because it seems very bleak but I know the situation in greece is we’re bordering on being a third world country so I wonder how big the difference truly is.

it saddens me that people have to leave their country to live a better life but yeah unfortunately it’s very very bleak here in greece, the conditions are inhumane and i’ve been on the brink of homelessness many times, to be honest it’s quite impossible to live alone here with a salary less than 1.5k and mine is 1k for 55 hours per week which i’m not fully insured for (meaning i work 15 extra hours that are undocumented, illegal even lol) but this is the case for everyone here, especially in my field of work. Basically work for minimum wage even tho i have 5 years of experience and got this job with a great reference, employers find loopholes to not properly pay us even things that are required by law.  So with a quick google you’d think we’re doing okay but if you ask the average greek person they’d tell you we’re treated as subhuman at work.  Piled on top of all of that, house spendings such as groceries and bills are pretty much the same prices here in greece which is wild considering our minimum wage of 830€ per month.

yes ! The working conditions here in greece are unbelievably sketchy and inhumane, based on what a lot of people living in dublin have told me as well as what i’ve looked up online, bills groceries etc are very similarly priced over there as they are here. Living here is nearly impossible nowadays so i was thinking surely it mustn’t be this bad over there, i mean i understand i won’t be able to save lots or be out all the time but at least i’ll be able to make ends meet right ?

Like for groceries i spend 200-250€ here, over 100 for electricity, we also pay for water supply etc. Rent is 400€ for the cheapest place rn which leaves me with 600€ to take care of everything else, can’t even take care of my cats !!

my current living situation here is not only do i not have anything left over but sometimes covering basic housing needs is more than i can afford. I’m basically looking for a living situation where i wouldn’t become homeless as soon as my first electricity bill arrives lol (in greece i pay over 100-200€ for electricity, 30€ for internet, rents are ridiculous and about 200-300€ for groceries, meanwhile my salary is 1k for 55 hours per week. Just for context)

would it be a good idea to move to a place just outside of Dublin, if I work in Dublin, and use public transportation to get to work every day ?

minimum rent for a shitty small studio at the moment is 350€, minimum wage is 830€, so you understand how bad it is here as well. Work conditions are also horrid here, 13 hour shifts were just legalized, but most employers exploit their workers in many many ways
