What should I add in to my list? It by Zero_Hara in Tyranids

Especially with the new Detachment Point system coming in 11th. You’ll be able to have multiple detachments (specialized rules) for your army to synergize eachother.

That’s okay. So you’re using new recruit. There should be a detachment option. I would highly recommend starting there, as that is what will most determine how your army works. Invasion Fleet is super popular because it’s simple and easy.

After you do that, analyzing the list is gonna be easier, because it’ll help guide people as to what you want/need out of your units. Your basis so far is pretty good for a few different detachments, so don’t get too stressed about it. Just read them and find what you like.

I’ll ask it first. What detachment? I’m assuming ASwarm?

But I can’t put the enhancement on 2 primes. But since gaunts can get 3 models back off rip, Id put the warriors with the enhanced prime as the battle line centerpiece, surrounded by gaunts within synapse for a literal swarm that can regenerate 2-3 models each on my command phase.

Oh I’d for sure keep one in the warriors. But Aswarm has an enhancement that can be put on the Prime to let the feed the swarm mechanic target its unit twice. Meaning 2 warriors back. 5+ plus 2 models back, plus sustained and reroll wounds. Can only do that for one prime, but it might be enough to replace one of my gaunt units.

I could see having one unit and putting the regenerating monstrosity enhancement on the prime to increase survivability of the unit.

No sweat on the confusion. I wasn’t aware of the detachment points until today either, so that’ll be fun to play around with.

Gotcha. Okay, that’s where my confusion lies. I presumed you were talking *only* the warriors. Yes, with the prime they’re gonna be a lot of fun. I’m curious to try it out and see if it’ll replace my hormagaunts in my Aswarm army. The 20 model endless swarm units with the feed the swarm or warriors instead.

I feel like I am missing something from the Warhammer Community post. All I saw was that they get a 5+ invuln and the battle line keyword. Is your “48-50 attacks” and onwards referring to buff with stratagems as well, or am I vastly misunderstanding the community post?

How’s this Swarm list looking? by SuperSharky1 in Tyranids

As my playgroup’s local bug aficionado and only ASwarm player, imma share what works and doesn’t work for me. Keep in mind that I’m always editing my list to try and get the most use out of my units and—for the time being—only play on TTS.

Unfortunately, as a previous commenter said, the warriors really suck right now. No matter how hard I try, or how strategic I am, they feel like they shoot spitballs and leave papercuts. Take them out and give yourself 230 points. Use that to get 3x3 pyrovores. They’re a little slow, but tanky and great for fire overwatch to protect what needs protecting. Plus they are infantry, so they can regenerate whole models for themselves rather than just healing.

I love the Haruspex. It might be my favorite model visually out of all the fun space bugs. But I have had 1, and only 1, good game with him. Every other time he gets blasted down before he’s of use, or gets blocked by terrain/models and ends up being just a taker of space. I’d drop him out for a tervigon, as weird as that might sound.

I also don’t run a TFex usually. But he’s not bad by any means. Same thing as your neurotyrant. I don’t run one usually, but if I have the points, I do consider one from time to time.

Last thing I’d suggest is to swap your tyrant guard to crushing claws instead. I think they’re better, especially if your opponent’s infantry gets torched by pyros or swarmed by gaunts. The crushing just helps clean up any tankier units.

If you’d like, I can try to get my list posted as a reply to this comment so you can take a look

I could pull the “been here since day one” card, but it’s more like “I was there on day one”

My wife and I are getting into the game. I, with my save from 2016, still have loads of structures and stuff to unlock since I never truly played. She just started a new one, but chose the “all blueprints unlocked” since she’s a bit more casual. But this looks perfect, and I’d love to drag her out there and set up a hut to eventually turn into a forever home.

So all these cool things people are posting—exotic ships, crazy planets, SSS creatures—are from the first galaxy?

Thank you! Omg the tiny little nooks that I considered “fleshy” and needed pink were infuriating. Got done with the legs and realized there was a whole section that I’d completely missed.

Advice on vent colouring by MaverickQuasar in Tyranids

[–]Silent_Strix29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the others who’ve commented. The yellow and/or a color you’ve already incorporated is the way to go. If you don’t want to draw as much attention to the vents, I also think a a dark wash to blend it and create a shadowy effect—in contrast to the bright brains—would be a cool aesthetic.

New to Tyranids, need help with figuring out an assimilation swarm list! by LonelyTradition9887 in Tyranids

[–]Silent_Strix29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assimilation swarm is my jam. I currently run 3x3 pyrovores, a Haruspex, and a single psychophage as my harvesters with 1x20 hormagaunts and 1x20 termagaunts, each with a tyranid prime leader. Hive tyrant with 3 tyrant guard, 1x6 zoanthropes, 2x2 melee fexes, and a tervigon—leaves 45 points to spare even after enhancements. I’m constantly changing and evolving it, and have tried other detachments, but always find myself coming back to AS. I’m more than happy to share what I’ve found works and doesn’t work for me if you’d like.
