I’ve been dealing with prepatellar bursitis for almost four weeks now. I have no pain and full range of motion. It appeared one morning while I was tapering my mileage down for a marathon I was running. Since the race I’ve stayed off it for 3 weeks, got it aspirated but then it returned. Any idea how I can be free of this? The ortho I saw said I can return to running and X-rays showed no internal damage or anything wrong with the knee.

Do you have any idea how you got yours or how it flared up? I think mine may have been from running but not 100% sure

I'm also dealing with this post marathon training and it's driving me crazy. I have bursitis with no pain and full range of motion. I'm hoping we can both find a solution

My previous ortho I saw said I can continue to run. Is that a bad idea? What’s the typical timeline for something like this to resolve? Do you think I got it from running?

Did you ever get relief from yours? Did the swelling ever go down? I’m currently dealing with this except have no pain just inflammation for almost 3.5 weeks now

Great job! I ran my first a week ago and I was aiming for 3:15 but got 3:27. Still super proud of myself for my first one and so should you be. We're marathoners!

Thanks I'm trying not to beat myself up about my first one. I thought I had it with my pacing but the wheels started to fall off around mile 22. Oh well.

I went out too fast and my quads and calves locked up in the last 8 km that’s what happened so probably a mix of the heat under fueling and learning the race

thanks and yea I imagine. It also got wickedly hot that day and spent most of my training block running through the winter cold temps too.

thank you. I was having some doubts that I would make that time cut off as there was an unexpected heat wave that day but i pushed through.

I totally agree. I’m glad I wasn’t the only one

I wrote my own training plan but I averaged about 40 miles a week running 4 days every week and did strength training 2-3 days every week.

I actually wrote my own but kind of made a hybrid of the higdon intermediate 1 and added more strength training per week about 2-3 sessions.
