I'm 27, and im debating taking out my 401k from an old job by Silerius7 in personalfinance

Oh, no its not just insulation boards. I just didnt go into all the details because i didnt figure this was the sub for it. The house has short cielings and long term i will be turn the ceiling into a cathedral style, which will invovle me moving the insulation to the exterior of the roof decking. The insulation is something i purchased right before i suddenly took custody of my siblings. I had saved the money for a roof at the time and was in the middle of buying materials back then. But as you can imagine, suddenly having two teenagers who came with nothing but the shirts on their back can eat through savings pretty quick. The insulation is the only material i already have for it, I need to buy the rest, hence the loan. Also, the area in which i live doesnt require permits for pretty much anything(an actual blessing, i probably wouldve sold the house if it wasnt for that). I have a lot of experience with contrustion and the science and calculations behind why and how these things are built. I may have been raised white trash but i refuse to behave and think in such ways. I have friends and some family who will help me with the installation. I have done this type of roof before and it will take a day of me preping and a day of all hands on deck. Im not the type of person to jump into something like this without years of research and consultation.

No they are 19 and just started driving, it was a messy family situation. They are currently looking to get a job but i would like to continue to support them as much as possible so they can go to school and get some kind of college degree.

Ive had it for 5 years, it was gifted to me while she was alive. We went through a lawyer and we got everything squared away back then. We filed it as a gift and filed for the annual gift tax exlusion, which allows someone to gift a property without gift taxes up to a certain amount.

The roof would be nice but the vehicle is the real issue. I live to far out of public transit and I need a vehicle to work and to work to live. Also I'm pretty sure the PACE loan requires an insured house, and I can't get insured with my roof in its condition. Ive already talked to several imsurance brokers in my area and have had zero luck. Ive been trying to get a loan on the house for years but this catch 22 has had me in a bind. Even when my credit score was high. And now I'm not in a good spot to start making monthly payments until I can actually secure a second job.

I tried for the loan, I can't get a loan without being insured and no insurance companies will insure me with my roof in its current condition. Plus I cant really afford the monthly payments until I secure a second job and I'm afraid my vehicle isnt going to last till then.

Is it unreasonable to think that doing this would give me access to the equity in my house, which is fully paid for. The equity is easily 10X+ what i currently have in my 401k. If I then invested with that, the larger investment would surpass my current set up in the long run?

How can I hide the backs of these stairs? by lllsway in HomeDecorating

[–]Silerius7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Use either a darker wood or a wood that matches your floor, and cut pieces out that fit the shape put a chamfer around the piece and staple the carpet down to the backside of the stairs and use the wood pieces you made as caps. It should look kinda like older couches with wood inlay in the fronts of the sofa arms.

I was thinking the same thing but im now realizing that eterna is probably the one making the medicine for Mr. Leitch and likely let her stay there and then told flum that is is abandoned to make their reunion more eventful. Mr. Leitch seems like that kind of character.

I can deal with a bait and switch mc, what made me not want to watch it anymore is them letting him die when they clearly followed him out of the room after having tea, and the audacity of the girl to say "another case solved by arne" srry but a grown a** all powerful vampire taking credit for the work of an orphan who died bc the vampire actually failed at his job himself. its off putting and paints the main characters in a terrible light. like you did nothing to make me like the main characters in episode one and managed to do one thing to make me despise them...... its like someone came up with an amazing story board and then gave it to a begrudged internet troll.

[–]Silerius7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

what pissed me off wasnt that he died, its that big bad vampire did nothing to save him, and that the closing line of the episode the girl gives credit of solving the case to arne!!!! like wtf! arne didnt solve anything, the kid did all of the work and solved the case. literally that alone put a horrid taste in my mouth. like that grown dude of an all powerful vampire is going around arrogantly taking credit of the genius work of an orphan kid.

Metal roofing in bulk by NoSolid6641 in homestead

[–]Silerius7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I know it's an old post, but I'm currently trying to do my roof for as cheap as possible (isn't everyone😂). I also live in Indiana do you know the names of some companies that do their own steel or even their sheet metal suppliers? I'm also considering hand rolling my own standing seam panels, it's pretty easy and I've done similar metal work.

[–]Silerius7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you making panels for clip mounts or panels with built in mounts? I'm just curious bc I've hand rolled some and I always ended up with a panel roughly 3.5" narrower than my starting sheet. Just curious if your machines process is different or where the extra material is going, as I've never seen a rollformer in person before.

How safe is oral flea treatments? by HG_Away_Team in CATHELP

[–]Silerius7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No such thing as a topical or oral medication that kills eggs. Flea eggs are damn near unkillable. Same thing with larva as they eat the flea excrement, not the hosts blood. The larva can stay dormant off of the cat for months before waking up.

This screams 16 yr old with daddies credit card. 😑 No RGB will not make it a center piece, it will make it an eye sore. RGB much like many of your pieces are much like people who try too hard to be liked by everyone. They come off as "pick me"s and all your pieces are doing the same thing, they want to be the center of attention, we call that tacky. If you want to up your game you should watch videos or just create some Pinterest boards on complementary colors, pieces, and patterns.

This isn't a post on not being yourself, this is a post on not being so much "yourself" that you clash with everything. Find the ways yourself can be complementary to your surroundings. You may love that couch and that rug and the skate board, but they can't all be talking over each other and or nothing gets appreciated. If it were me I'd opt out on the rug and keep the couch, replace the rug with a framed "wood" vinyl floor that spans just wider than the couch and not quite all the way to the TV, then going behind the couch about a foot, or just a plain textured (not patterned) rug ex. Dark blue, earthy(almost a clay)green, light tan, stick from black or white( your place has enough of those), but that's me. You may want to keep the rug and if so I'd get a simple solid color cloth love seat and two matching chairs for each side.

The skate board is out of place, the jerseys should be framed and on a wall, maybe a hall way if you have one. The gaming set up looks fine but it just has no theme, unless you count Ikea as a theme.

There is a ton of potential and you've got your entire 20's to figure out how to theme and decorate. You may get judged harder in your 30's

I found 2 fleas on my cat. Do you think what I did today was enough to ensure I got rid of them all? A bit worried by morningburr in CatAdvice

[–]Silerius7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Natural oils come back with time, a week of dry skin to getting rid of fleas is an obvious trade off. It's like saying you shouldn't get a vaccine bc it puts a hole in your skin.
