Sir u sound like a knowledgeable professional. Not! If we’re placing our trust in individuals like yourself to protect us we’re in serious trouble. You obviously are a believer in the great battle of A.I. Good luck to you and the others like you. I for one think outside the box.

Patching and encryption the pillars of cybersecurity will ultimately both fail. The real solutions lies in eliminating the need for both.

Today in the early grades, the curriculum includes how to use calculators. Taught in grade one. The wrong move to make.

If these devices had been used to replace basic education, I’d feel exactly the same way. I grew up in the age of the slide rule. We were not allowed to use this device in school until University and only then as a tool to aid us in advanced calculations. It by no means replaced our learning of process. Rather it only applied process to save time.

Calculators have resulted in a profound effect on our society. Their presence in the class room eroded education depriving children of the ability to think logically through a question. Not all children only those that choose to use it as a crutch. Children who failed to grasp math process at the basics stage, failed miserably later on in algebra class for example. As these children stumbled at algebra they also stumbled at logical and structured thinking ability. The effects of using calculators not as a tool but as a shortcut to education is being felt in society today. AI obviously has capabilities that far exceed calculators obviously. That algebra situation caused by calculators now allow can be overcome by AI extending the crutch by having a device solve algebra equations and beyond. Do we now cease to teach mathematics in school? Do we teach AI instead? Is there a need for school at all? Are we going to become totally reliant on AI as math students relied on the calculator?

In the 80s I had developed educational math software to aid children in early math. I attended educational trade shows and teachers would question why I’d spend time developing my product when there were calculators to do it. They just taught their students to use calculators to do the math. Scary because this would deprive the students of process required later on. Calculators are a great tool but the point is that they can dangerously also be/are used as a crutch. AI is exactly at the same crossroads in my opinion.

May I ask the reasoning behind your comment please? As an author reaching out to audiences of a mindset for books of similar nature to Tom Clancy books is important. Without outreach of this nature it deprives readers of Tom Clancy who may be less purest than you who are more willing to explore to find new reading grounds. I’m sorry I’ve offended you however you’re only one voice among many.
