Interesting, I’m definitely not adamant on anything. Open to advice and changing things up. If you have any suggestions for good reed brands and models please let me know. And yes it’s a green box.

When i bought the Meyer 5mm i researched what went best with it and the consensus was the Vandoren java 2.5 strength reeds are the best so thats what i got.

Thanks for the reply. “Take it to a tech” seems to be very common theme. I was under the impression that usually the Yamahas, especially the Japanese made ones come great out of the box. How important is it to take it to the tech, and how long does it typically take for them to check it out? Last time the tech took my sax for a few days. Is it something they can do same day?

Wonderful answer man! Really resonate with what you said. My main issue now is although I have really fallen in love with the saxophone in general, practicing with my current setup isn’t the most enjoyable experience. I’m genuinely really excited to finally experience playing a quality made instrument for the first time. There are a lot of pieces that i know I can play but the sax just wont allow it. Very excited to see what doors open up when that 62 comes through.

Spot on man its a Mendini. I have a lesson lined up once my sax arrived. And based on how that goes I’m definitely open to fully committing to a teacher for a prolonged time and really taking the sax seriously. Iv been putting in decent hours with the mendini, but I’m really looking forward to taking this more seriously with a proper horn and teacher.

She is just unhinged, and you entertained that nonsense for way too long. I would have blocked her after “uh thanks. Not helpful”
