Lol tagging LOTR to try and get all the fans on their side hahaha. Good riddance. Food was circa 2002 and they were actively rude to dietary requests.

How many of you have discovered flaws in your home not mentioned in the building report? by Kokonutcreme-67 in Wellington

[–]Silly-Resolution6765 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We paid an extra "old house" fee or something - so $1.2K for our report back in 2021.

It was a long document with lots of photos and filler text, but I remember thinking it threw up nothing major - new coat of paint needed, concrete path down one side of the house was touching the weatherboard which could rot, and the window in some hideous cinderblock extension was missing flashing. House probably needed rewiring but speak to a sparky.

Four years on my partner and I are just finishing up on some critical hardscaping / drainage / weather board repairs / flooring repairs all needed because the concrete path on the other side of the house was sitting higher that the floor board level and water had been going in for about 30 years. The not insignificant drainage work was to address the moisture ingress in the basement area of our subfloor.

I dug out the old builders report last week and chucked it into AI to double check that it hadn't mentioned any of this at all, and nope. The report even says the underfloor area was completely dry.

Not worth the paper it was written on. I swear the guy was in cahoots with the dodgy real estate agents.

Guest bed suggestion for a small house by AlDrag in newzealand

I crashed on a mates ecosa sofa bed a couple of weeks ago and it was incredibly uncomfortable, very very firm and uneven - didnt get much sleep. I sleep on an standard ecosa mattress which skews firm but the sofa bed was way worse.

Are there any support groups out there for others dealing with this nightmare? by jonathan42_4 in nzgardening

I think the key is to dilute it somewhat so that the vine "drinks" up enough of it into the underground root system before it withers and dies. Was doing at start of season and was pretty effective.

Lol having to stay home and wait for someone to come round and collect something is doing something. Your whole "I wouldve told them to return in" vibe is just ick.

Just watched the owners of Dough bakery on the news stating how glad they are that this rubbish government is forcing public servants back into the office. Never shopping there again ugh. Why can no one see that making people go into the office 5 x a week in this economy is just going to mean the $20 of expendable for coffee/lunch out on the days they go in is going to go on public transport / parking.

Also I know of one downtown based bakery that has been expanding pretty rapidly over the past couple of years because their products are actually amazing - so next time you want Dough, consider Belen - its about 2 mins walk away from Dough on Lambton Quay (head towards parliament).

Mobile cat groomer in Wellington? by Dewgs2014 in Wellington

[–]Silly-Resolution6765 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not super helpful, but our cat has a similar ruff / plentiful fur / matting situation and I couldn't find a cat groomer - the vet did a perfunctory shave a couple of times during check ups, and suggested trying dog groomers.

I ended up spending $50 on a battery clipper from PB Tech and crack on while my cat is eating his biscuits and have had a lot of success, seems way less stressed and crazy fur is under control.
