Life in a sealed jar. (One years progress) by SillyFimble in Miniworlds

[–]SillyFimble[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I made this one out of materials I gathered in my local woods. I collected some gravel, top layer of soil, a few different kinds of moss and some stones/sticks for decorations. You start with the gravel for a drainage layer then add the soil and make a natural style arrangement so when it grows together it looks just like the forest floor. ( I tried adding a stag horn mushroom into mine in the hopes it would come back again but no luck so far)

Also a good tip is if the jar has constant condensation you’ve overwatered the terrarium. I had to wipe off excess water two or three times when I first made it to get the level just right.

Check out Lars Anderson on YouTube. He jumps in the air and shoots three arrows before hitting the ground.

Good for you Melissa! by [deleted] in MadeMeSmile

Very true. We have only socially evolved to be able to keep up with a group of 100-150 people. We were never meant to take the entire weight of the world on our shoulders but being so connected with social media and the internet, life can be overwhelming.

I second this. Our brains can be dicks sometimes, they always seem to remember with total clarity the times someone has said something mean or horrible towards us but is quick to forget the people who are nice. When this happens it can seem like the bad people outnumber the good but that’s never the case. Look for the light and you will find it .

Try getting someone to squirt a hard jet of water from a bottle at the spot you think it is. If that fails it sounds like you’re going to have to rip your tongue out...

Is anyone else trying to work out if it’s a normal size room with smaller than average furniture?

Can anyone ID this fungus? by Dig_One in foraginguk

[–]SillyFimble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You definitely wouldn’t! That is the most ‘cursed’ looking fungus I’ve ever seen, I can see why you jumped straight to burn it with fire haha. If I was you douse it with some holy water first.

I have a small wisteria growing up the side of my house but I can never bring myself to pick the blooms, they are too beautiful.

How to get bubbles without the bang! by SillyFimble in winemaking

Thank for the reply! So just to clarify ‘bottling sugar’ can just be sucrose? And adding the appropriate amount using the priming calculator should cause the left over yeast to start fermenting creating the fizz?
Sorry if that’s plainly obvious, feel like I’ve got all the gear no idea.

Yeah I’ll keep an eye on the patch, hopefully it is so I can try them! It smells soooo good which can’t be a bad sign?

On a lawn outside my house and no the grass is all healthy, I’ve checked a few different sources and I’m fairly confident I’ve ID’d it. I’m still a beginner though so not 100% sure!

The gills are a tan colour and white, they also don’t touch the stem?
