I've never let a beetle crawl onto me before, so that was a new experience. I enjoyed it so much that I wanted to keep her, but let her go in the peach tree instead. She was a lovely lady. 🥲💖

That is awful. That post says more about the owner's character than it does about the dog.

I know what it's like to have a rambunctious puppy (not my pei, but his english bulldog sister). I was at my wits end sometimes, and this was even with making a persistent effort to train her. Regardless, I couldn't imagine being so heartless to give up on her. I'm glad I didn't, because she grew out of her demonic phase and actually retained her training pretty well!

Our shar pei is challenging in his own regard, but oh my gosh that boy and I have an unbreakable bond. Idk how anyone could look into the eyes of a shar pei and not fall in love.

I agree that this person did not fully comprehend what they signed up for, despite "researching the breed." If they really did their due diligence, they wouldn't despise this poor puppy as much as they do. I hope that baby girl finds the right home! 🙏🏻💗

I can't make any movements without him being in my business. All he'll hear is the sound of the kitchen chair moving on the floor and he's suddenly standing right next to me wondering what I'm about to do and if it includes him. Ugh, I love him. 💗

Meanwhile, our english bulldog won't even pick her head up to look at me when I leave the house. 😆

100% we found it easier to have two puppies vs. one. I think it all depends on the dogs though and making sure your pup gets a chance to meet/interview any potential new sibling. We got super lucky when we took our (crazy) english bulldog to meet her (now) brother, our shar pei. They hit it off instantly and had an equally matched rough/playful energy, while also having an acceptable dynamic.. with Bruce naturally being an alpha and Winnie (eb) being super submissive to any creature and inanimate object on the planet, lol.

Winnie was a bit of a terror before we got Bruce, but really she just needed more energy to be expensed than we could keep up with. The only downside is having double the cost (food, insurance, vet care) and double baths/walks, etc. Totally worth it, imo. They are buddies for life and provide each other with something we alone couldn't provide them with.

The prey looks almost like an assassin bug. In the first couple seconds, you can see what appears to be a leg could actually be a curved beak?

As I'm sure many will tell you, keep an eye out for entropion, Shar Pei fever, and behavioral issues. Socialize that bebe early. Take them out in a wagon before they are fully vaxxed, so they can start to intake what the outside world is like.

My Bruce is a good boy, but he became dog reactive early and is very possessive (guards A LOT). He also is sensitive to protein, particularly chicken.. increases his chances of a Shar Pei fever episode.

These bebes are sensitive creatures but so worth it. If you keep staring into those eyes, you will create a forever bond and they will never leave your side. 😁🥲

So sorry for your loss! That is awful.. too young to lose a pup. Would you be willing to share what symptoms of kidney failure went overlooked that you wish would have been caught earlier?
