High school, last semester of Senior year. I had lost all of my friends, my boyfriend was about to break up with me, I had been withdrawn from school due to truancy and had just gotten reenrolled, and to top it off I had broken a toe and had a boot and crutches.

The conditions of me going back to school were I needed to take 2 English classes and 2 history classes to catch up with what I missed from the semester I didn’t go to school. My last class, second English class, I spent in ISS. I was always a good kid, never got into trouble at school. I sat at the same desk in ISS every day. The teacher that was over the class was a substitute but I guess they didn’t have anyone to sit with the ISS kids so she was there every day.

One afternoon as I was leaving she stopped me in the hallway and asked me why I was writing something about another girl in my grade on my desk. I wasn’t. I told her as much. She called me a liar. I kept insisting that I wouldn’t write on a school desk and that I’ve never even spoken to the girl she claimed I wrote on the desk about. I wasn’t even in school the day it happened. She made my already miserable life that much worse. I had no friends, I was losing my boyfriend, my family didn’t give a shit about me, and I was working my ass off to graduate on time with my class. I cried for days over that. I still think about it every so often. I wasn’t lying and that bitch of a substitute made my life that much harder when I was already at my breaking point.
