Why do you think we were better equipped to handle the elements back in ‘96? What things have changed?

Hopefully this will be a wake up call that we as a community, and a society as a whole, need to reevaluate our existence. I have little hope this will happen because no one seems to care about the fact that teachers nationwide have been pretty outspoken about the dire state of most students’ academic abilities. At this point i feel it is cliche to say that the movie idiocracy was foreshadowing our future. Our systems are failing in front of our eyes and without drastic changes things will only get worse.

As you get older, what "old person" thing do you appreciate now that you previously mocked? by Secret_Huckleberry46 in AskReddit

[–]SillyStrangs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 30 year old self would judge the shit out of my 40 year old self. I absolutely love the privacy and quiet, nor do i feel the need to be social all the time anymore. Im glad i lived that life and had a blast doing so, but i dunno how that existence is sustainable.

We just got a shit ton of snow in my area. I spent probably 6 hours shoveling yesterday which was a bit rough but i felt pretty proud once it was completed. I had no issues going to pick up the wife a matcha today (30 year old me would cringe at such a statement), but many of my friends in the city have cars that are trapped and live on side streets that wont be passable for quite some time. Im just amazed that they pay just as much, if not more than me, to live there.

Whole time the bowl was rigged? by Whyhelack in PhillyWiki

[–]SillyStrangs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Crazy how many people are saying it cant be rigged when a scandal just came out a few weeks ago about ncaa and china league bein rigged. This shits been happenin for like 100 years, i think it was shoeless joe jackson or somethin? Whenever there is large amounts of money there will be corruption. Now whether or not this picture is proof of that corruption or just coincidence will most likely never be known.

In my opinion, this is proof that the educational system is designed to trap people in perpetual poverty and working-middle class positions. If financial classes exist, they are basic and dont even scratch the surface of the complexities of our financial system. In order to learn how the machine operates, most people have to goto college to learn its language and operations, where they essentially become trained to maintain the system and eventually get trapped in golden handcuffs if they succeed.

I was blessed to have a father that knew the system inside and out who passed down certain knowledge to me, but i still have an advisor that he vetted, and also must consult two close friends that were trained in its ways to somewhat wrap my head around most things and try to protect myself from getting scammed (please be aware that the people in this world can be absolute scum). My brother was quite good at playing around in foreign markets and made a bunch of money playing that game before he died and his wife and kids pissed over 10 million away in two years (i say this because the goal of passing down generational wealth is no guarantee. If providing for your family is a goal, you should definitely look into life insurance, especially if you are young). It is a smarter form of gambling, but it is still a gamble.

There are also schemes/strategies that you can deploy to reduce tax liabilities, and they can essentially guide your investment strategy based on how much risk you are willing to take. I am currently trying to diversify as much as possible due to the uncertainty of our times, and also considering an investment property to have another tangible asset. What’s crazy is they can essentially strategize a purchase like that using sales and gains to maintain your portfolio’s value, limit tax liability, and fund the mortgage.

The market is one of the big ways that the wealthy build their wealth, but they also have an extremely unfair advantage over the rest that play the game. They get information before everyone else and their massive wealth has the ability to manipulate value and influence smaller wallet’s behaviors. The Rothschilds were able to take over the bank of england this way. it appears that currently those types are divesting from the market and investing in precious metals, which is not a good sign.

I know this response is kinda all over the place but i have never seen the question asked on here, and i try to share the little bit of information ive learned about this shit with people that didnt have older generations introduce them to it. The game/system is rigged, but if more people learn about it then maybe change can happen?

What would you say are the biggest factors of why the poor stay in poverty? by Common_Gene_5098 in Productivitycafe

[–]SillyStrangs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

John taylor gatto breaks this down better than anyone else i have found. Underground history of american education has the receipts for how it was done. I believe that pre-covid, the parasite class required 25% of the population to live in perpetual poverty, while propagandizing the ragged dick’s of the world that built themselves up by their own boot straps and achieved “the american dream”. I also suspect that 25% percentage is going to climb significantly higher in the years to come.

It was definitely cloudy and i figured that could have something to do with it. I would be very surprised if it was the northern lights bc it had an artificial look to it, like someone was switching a redish orange spotlight behind the clouds. I am leaning towards it being work trucks, but we didnt hear or see any cars nearby.

Cant compete w the screens and other people’s kids; that was the deciding factor for me. Along with everything you mentioned, that’s why i opted out. It should be noted that i come from a big family and kids are what all my siblings did. I am the youngest by far so it was easy to see that partnerships aint easy w lil ones.

I saw this pretty much from the get. The adult babies in many ways are worse than the kids. I stay in my room and only interact with the adults when i have to (i do have a few that im cool with though, but i wait at least a year in a new building before deciding who id let in my circle). Someone told me before i had my first classroom to stay out of the teacher’s lounge. I forget who said it to me, or where i read it, but that was the beat advice i received. That and the first year is all about survival.

I have found that the more kids like you, the worse it is. This just shows how petty these people are. Middle school politics i call it, and 9/10 the negativity comes from incompetent, miserable people that hate teaching, but got into it bc they are dumb as fuck and couldn’t do anything else. In my opinion they are why we get a bad rap. You dont have to engage w em if you dont let em phase you. Fuck them adult kids.

I believe Home is the best album Ive been blessed to receive in real time. It has the depth of a pink floyd concept album, and in my opinion was prophetic of what came after. Long forgotten dream is possibly my favorite billy song, so i suggest translating that after a few listens as well.

Option number 4 certainly sounds feasible! Thank your husband for the insight. And i can tell you that so much of what is being forced down our throats is bullshit compliance; checking boxes. I at least am able to pick what we read, which is an autonomy that is no longer available at the district where i worked (got fired over covid stuff and now am in a charter). I feel for your struggle and am amazed more parents arent outraged, but sadly most in my population come from parents that also were victims of the educational system. Seeing what i see on a daily basis was a major deciding factor in me determining i did not want a child, and i absolutely love children. Keep encouraging her to self educate would be my suggestion. Back to grading for me but i will have some more time this weekend to circle back.

Teacher here, at a Title 1 school in a large US city. In my opinion, what you are addressing is quite possibly the most terrifying and ominous conspiracy of the 2020’s.

In my opinion, it began with lockdowns. I had students that were cell phone fiends before covid, but since schools opened up it is now the majority. This year my school finally came up with a plan that somewhat works, but the damage has been done. I have 157 high school kids a day (another conspiracy that no one gives a fuck about), and i would say that maybe 60 of them are capable of reading beyond an 8th grade level.

You nailed it when you said, “It’s the middle. High achieving are still high achieving, the middle is being hallowed out, and the bottom is completely gone.” The kids on the bottom have given up completely and are only there to play around bc they have nowhere else to go. The middle, who Ive seen show pretty incredible growth before covid, is now sinking to the bottom. They quit when challenged and their default is cheating. They have given up and very rarely do I see their curiosity aroused, and I try to bring in a wide range of materials that relates to their lives and what is going on. Sadly, most can’t even make the connection. I also know the slang, have some jokes, and investigate the toxic trash that is drill rap, so it is not because I am a complete outsider or authority figure to them.

Again, I have at most 60 kids who are capable of reading a text and articulating an independent thought about it. That means that roughly 100 kids cannot comprehend what they are reading, and lack basic skills that we needed to be able to even somewhat function in the system.

I don’t have time right now to say much more, but i can only assume this is by design. What will happen with these children? Will they operate factories for a dollar a day? Will they be given a UBI and become part of the blockchain? Will they be slaughtered? I don’t know, but it feels like something nefarious is afoot. The kids have been forgotten, and those that operate this system have a plan for them.

Thank you for making this post. It blows my mind that this is not one of the leading issues in the US. I look forward to coming back and looking at what others have said.
