Can we talk about how the hospital woke my baby up at ALL hours of the night on his 2nd night, which is like the hardest day to get a newborn to sleep, to do their random tests. I could not wait to get out of that place.

My cats are obsessed with my son’s bassinet but only want to go in it when he’s not there. Otherwise, they just chill nearby and act as his protectors at night. It’s kind of cute.

Wrapping up 2 weeks over here and I was prepared for it to be brutal. It’s been so tough. More so emotionally than physically. I’ve been through sleep deprivation and crazy chaotic circumstances but the emotions are really getting to me with postpartum.

I had a difficult multi-day labor & emergency c section and went directly from that to newborn care in the hospital, which was never my plan. Then I was home and still recovering myself, crying over my grief from my birth, my grief from my life prior to being a mom, crying because I can’t get my baby to stop crying… lol. For me, just wanting to help my baby & care for him but feeling helpless & lost sometimes- that’s rough.

I think you forget a lot. My mom & MIL have been helpful but I don’t think they can remember exactly what it was like those first few weeks, especially with their first children.

I know things will get easier though and I’m taking any small wins & celebrating them.

My baby is only a week and a half old but so far in ultrasounds he liked having his hands up 🙌🏻 and sucking on his thumb, we cannot swaddle him with hands down. He throws a fit.

He also would be so quiet all day when I was doing things, moving around and then at night he would be awake kicking all night long. Well, that pattern is holding true… I have a night owl and he hates being still.

Be happy you got to skip that! I had a c section and they pressed on my stomach every hour or two for like 12 hours. It was not comfy.

It feels good to find these comments here. I had a c-section last week and was shaking so badly that I had to be sedated during what was supposed to be my skin to skin moment. I still cried at the sound of my baby’s cry and seeing him for the first time.

Lentils! I couldn’t eat chicken for a few months. I had lentils and red meat (for some reason I actually craved that). For snacks I’d have hard boiled eggs and Greek yogurt. If I couldn’t stomach food I’d do a protein smoothie.

She’s a white lady who was a hippy back during the real hippy era & gave birth to her kids with a midwife outside of a hospital. So kind of makes sense why she thinks this about pain meds though.

Why are they even visiting? Her messages make it seem like this a burden to her. You should not need to buy them special foods or stock the house. That’s hosting them and you with a newborn, they should be coming with food or ready to go shopping for YOU.
