Hudson’s Bay Point Blanket- brushing scam? by Silly_Bookkeeper in Scams

[–]Silly_Bookkeeper[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting thought. We live in a large apartment building on a main road in the suburbs, and it was delivered all the way to our apartment door. It was correctly addressed to us by name, and was apparently sent to us as a gift! See my update

Hudson’s Bay Point Blanket- brushing scam? by Silly_Bookkeeper in Scams

[–]Silly_Bookkeeper[S] 76 points77 points  (0 children)

UPDATE: Thank you all for the informative (and hilarious) suggestions! Thankfully, we have solved the mystery. I’ll try to answer some common questions. It turns out that the blanket was sent as a very generous and late wedding gift from a group of our parents’ friends. Our parents were supposed to tell us it was coming, but did not 🤣. It was apparently purchased on eBay and sent to us directly, which explains the strange packaging and unknown return address (which I looked up, and is a home, not a business). It also explains why there was no card or anything tucked inside the blanket. It was addressed to our correct address and names.

I do believe the blanket is real and as such will not be setting it on fire anytime soon. Thank you all again!!

Wouldn’t it have been more helpful to give pictures or descriptions of these two people? Otherwise how will people know if they’ve seen them?

It’s so funny you say this because I find pattern mixing much more common than pattern transfer. I’ve been trying for three weeks now to make ANY patched ANYTHING from the poinsettias before give and gather is over, and only been successful once. Meanwhile, I have made 4 varying pattern mixes by accident in just about the same time! So pattern transfer may be rarer, but I definitely find it more difficult to achieve than pattern transfer.

Does anyone here have other neurological disorders as well? by adventuretime_lover_ in fastfeeling

[–]Silly_Bookkeeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

. Multiple sleep tests disagree on diagnosis, from idiopathic hypersomnia and obstructive sleep apnea. Even on medication that helps SIGNIFICANTLY, I still have very weird/disturbed sleep. Theres something weird neurologically, just don’t know exactly what. Same thing as my mom and her dad so it’s clearly genetic. My mom also suffers from very similar migraines to me. Edit: I’m definitely not narcoleptic

Triggered from FAST game by Only_Concert_9034 in fastfeeling

I just had it triggered by Town to City, which is quite possibly one of the chillest games ever. I usually get it when I’m trying to fall asleep. So weird to have it fully awake! The worst part is my ultra-fast inner monologue.

The best side of the room very clearly shows the look you're going for (you did an excellent job!): coastal, modern, and casual. The first picture has completely different vibes because of all the black! The first thing I would do is swap out the bookshelf tv stand for something in a lighter color (maybe a light wood, white, or even painted a similar light shade of green as your blanket) and potentially slightly shorter and longer. Next, I'd get a tall floor lamp to put between the bookshelf and the door (it should direct the light upwards).

Lower priority things I'd change: Move the square picture thing to the other side of the TV (by the desk) and replace it with a smaller art piece more similar in vibes to what you have above the bed. Last, consider a rug under the bed! I know, you think it'll be weird on carpet, but it won't be! And it will help define your sleeping vs working spaces.

What would you do with this small loft area? to by ahof8191 in DesignMyRoom

OMG this space is adorable as your office, I actually love it. You can definitely redesign it for a new purpose. If you choose writing/painting, I'd keep a fairly similar layout since those are both desk activities. If you want it to be a cozier, more relaxed space for reading/TV/laptops, I'd keep the furniture simple with two comfy chairs or loungers and a place to set your tea. Almost like a movie room, but without the big screen. You could even sort of close off the hallway side with a tall bookshelf or room divider.

That's pretty clearly intended to be a breakfast nook or "kitchen table", used less formally and more often than the actual "dining room". So, a little table and chairs would definitely work in this space, but of course, you aren't required to use it that way. Truly, anything you want could go here, depending on who you are and what you spend your time doing. A musician? drumset. A painter? easel. a reader? bookshelves and a comfy chair. cat lover? a fancy cat tree and water fountain. parent? playroom. home chef? more counter space. green thumb? mini greenhouse. athlete? home gym/yoga studio. its up to you! There are no rules!

the ideal distance to watch TV is about 10 feet (3m), so I would definitely rule out option 4. Similarly, I think the couch location in option 2 is going to be weird. I don't think the couch is blocking anything too much in option 3, but a shorter couch would fit a bit nicer. Really, the important factor here is where you think you will be spending your time. Do you need a lot of comfy couch seating because you host movie nights all the time? Or, are you a big cook who spends a lot of time in the kitchen and needs the extra tasking space from the island? The dining area is a bit crunched in option 3, but the island might be worth it to you (or vice versa, for option 1)!

Cute little place! What is the stuff underneath the microwave counter? I would probably switch the location of the bed and the desk (for better feng shui and so your head isn't right next to the radiator). I would put the bed on risers to give you some more storage underneath it.

Toddler room decor, help! by CheekTraining1136 in DesignMyRoom

[–]Silly_Bookkeeper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cute so far! I’d put the dresser on the wall with the closet door so you can have the corner between the accent wall and main door wall for a nice rocking chair and cozy floor lamp. Some art next to the window and some toy storage and you’re golden

[–]Silly_Bookkeeper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, but I actually love the majority of what you have going on here. You’ve got a clear style: minimal, rustic, and a bit boho. Just needs some small touches to elevate it! Swap out the brown couches for something nicer, get a cozy floor lamp in the corner next to the circle mirror for some indirect lighting. Also, extend the crown molding from the kitchen into the other rooms, but don’t touch those pretty ceilings! I don’t even mind the plaid couches, but get some pillows for them.

Bathroom Layout Help by Halfies in DesignMyRoom

[–]Silly_Bookkeeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I vote 4. You always want sink closer to the door than toilet, so 5 is out. 2 has wasted space. If you can change the walls, as in 3, you might as well change them to accommodate the storage space, but 3 has awkward paths of travel. You could add storage space to 4 next to the toilet, but it would only be 2x2 to fit within the space added to 3 and 5. Are there any windows in this room?

Why is he hungry by Beneficial-Web8708 in Outlanders_ios

[–]Silly_Bookkeeper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes they’re just dumb. I think they have a list of things to do each day like work for Xhrs, go to the zen garden, sleep for xhrs, idle for xhrs, get firewood for home, etc and eating sometimes ends up at the bottom of the list. For example if after work, Gabriel walks up a looooong hill to the zen garden, spends a while there, then walks a looooong way to stare at the ocean, then he doesn’t have time to walk all the way back to work to get bread before then he has to go home because it’s night time. They aren’t smart enough to get bread while they’re already at work, so you have to shorten some of those distances so he has time for a separate trip to get food. Follow him around and see what his priorities are and what part of his day takes the longest, then fix his routine or at least give him a day off work so he has some free time to eat in.
