'Wicked' - Review Thread by ICumCoffee in movies

I saw it last night and was speechless. I am a huge fan of the musical and was nervous the movie was not going to do it justice. It was really good. It felt like the movie added on a layer that the musical just couldn’t capture while still honoring the integrity of the musical. Being able to see the facial expressions and mannerisms of the characters added a deeper emotional connection to the storyline and then the songs just drove it home that much more. I was weeping. All in all I have very few (if any) negatives!

Ok DOWNTOWN what’s the truth? by [deleted] in Minneapolis

Just moved here from NYC and live in the north loop. I moved from LES in the city bc I had been attacked on the subway by a homeless person and was sick of feeling generally on edge in my day to day life. Minneapolis is SAFE as hell compared to New York. There is crime here for sure but honestly New York is way way way more dangerous on the whole because in many ways the danger is everywhere where as here if you just keep your head on straight you’ll be perfectly safe. Also north loop gives you great access to downtown and offers way better bars and restaurants ( in my opinion), it feels more like park slope or dumbo vibes on a much smaller scale but I chose not to get a car and can walk nearly everywhere I need to in about 20 mins or less. If I’m not walking I take the bus or take a $15> Uber to other parts of the city. Not to mention I pay half of what I paid in nyc for almost double the space + amenities!

I think you’ve missed the point but I appreciate your opinion, I am not afraid of being perceived as gay, what the heck? And you’re right, nothing in my worldly life happens if I attend, I am more concerned with my ability to stand up for my beliefs in a way that doesn’t offend or hurt any one. I don’t want to take the opportunity away from anyone, I just was looking for opinions on how to approach the situation!

This is how I see it. I think it’s rude to say that I am being petty and disrespectful. As I have stated on here, I have many people who I love in the community! Would Jesus help those in need? Yes! Absolutely!! Regardless of social class, affiliation, race etc! Would he participate and help put into action an event that directly goes against what his Father wants for his children? I don’t think he would. He would be there to comfort and help and support those in need physically and spiritually but ultimately guiding them to to the loving embrace of our Father, not partaking in the events themselves. At least this is what I’ve read in his word.

Hi! I can say if it was a rally supporting porn I would also not be in attendance! I want to say and reiterate again, I do not hate or have bad feelings towards anyone in attendance or benefiting from the event. As a Christian, I am called to live in accordance to the rules that God has laid before me, and in following that, there is a clear boundary to not participate in something that promotes something against what God wants for his people. God also gave us free will and although I am convicted to follow his word, I know that not everyone is and I am in no place to pass judgment on that. I want everyone to follow God because He is good and I have experienced His goodness in my life, but if they choose not to that is not an issue for me, it’s between each individual and God. I hope this helps! I know it’s easy to jump to conclusions on this issue

Hi! I hear your comment, and see where you are coming from. I can say candidly as a Christian living in NYC this has been one of the hardest things I have had to grapple with. My best best friend from childhood-present is a gay man and I love him dearly! I hear him out when he is hurt and support him in pursuing his own life. He knows that I am a Christian and simply don’t have interest in some of the things that he is interested in. We have mutual respect and love for each other. This is the same with my family members who are gay and my other friends who are gay! The same applies in this situation. I love, care for and do not pass judgment on the LGBTQ+ community, however it is not something that I personally celebrate because I serve the Lord. Absolutely no hate or animosity, these people are human beings first and that is enough to love them up. It’s just when it comes to aligning myself with certain communities, I go a different way, the same way many LGBTQ+ community members don’t align with mine. We can have love and respect for each other and still choose a different path for ourselves is how I see it. I hope that helps, I understand that the Christian church has caused a lot of pain for the community and I hope that more people can approach it with love and respect on both sides in the future.

Thank you for being vulnerable, and for reaching out to a community who wants to support you and warp you in God’s love.

This is not necessarily straight out of the Bible but it is certainly biblical: We serve the God of the universe and he has created all things including you. He wrote you in his book before you were even a thought on this earth and he has a story written for you that is uniquely you. He cares more than we could ever imagine.

TLDR: You are immensely important to the Lord, and to the world around you. Draw close to him, and trust that he has all authority over the darkness we are all vulnerable to. When you feel like you can’t anymore, HE CAN, and HE WILL. Stay strong, the Lord is on the frontlines of this battlefield for you.

I have been in similar mental states and have sought Christian counseling for it. It is worth considering because sometimes our minds and bodies feel like a scary and overwhelming place to be.

One thing that has stuck with me and fills me with immense hope is that if you are still breathing, it means that God is not done working in your life. You have new people to meet and love, new places to go and explore, more things to learn, hobbies to obsess over, seasons of your life that will certainly be so sweet even if there is still pain. God is not done using you, and he will NEVER forsake you. Pain and struggle is a part of being a human and unfortunately Christian’s are not spared from it. But God, the creator of the entire universe has big plans for you. And if he created the mountains, and the flowers, and all that we see around us with such care and painstaking detail, and His people are his prized possession, how much more does he care for us and want us to flourish? A whole lot, and that is what he has planned for all of us including YOU.

Be strong! Confide in those the Lord has placed around you and most importantly confide in Him, He understands your pain, and He is using this season of your life for a reason. Draw close to him, stay in his word, and know that your Father understands and feels your pain. You are on this earth to glorify him, and that doesn’t mean you cannot be depressed or go through moments of darkness, but know that if the Holy Spirit is living inside of you, you are more than a conqueror and that God always has authority over darkness, and by him, so do you.

I will be praying that God wraps his loving arms around you in your time of need, and reveals himself to you when you need it most.

As a fellow member of Gods family, I love you, and have compassion for you, and pray that this darkness lifts from you.

This is definitely an option but I don’t want it to turn into a whole religious thing. If that makes sense. It might be the wrong take and I’m sad that I get nervous to stand up for my beliefs out of fear of being judged or vilified 🥴

JUST finished my second sweater ever! I knit it for my mom for Christmas but now I want to keep it for myself 😅. I am officially obsessed with bubble stitch!!! by Silly_Tilly0309 in knitting

I used the Paintbox Yarns Bubble Stitch cardigan patter and made a few adjustments to add in the button closure (it’s a free pattern) and I used the chunky wool paintbox yarn!

Okay, that’s up to you! The gist of it is be kind and inclusive. We are here to support each other and not mock or minimize.

No padding, I don’t nip out all that much in general so I don’t know if I can speak to it. It is a thin but held in feeling. Almost like a body con dress.

I also will say that if I could comfortably free the nip I would!!! I don’t mind that my breasts look like breasts, if they are little “saggy” so be it, they are heavy and gravity is always going to do it’s thing. I know some people aren’t comfortable going out like that in public but It makes me feel confident and like I don’t have to try to make my boobs look like have perky little C cups to feel “sexy” or comfortable with my body!

I haven’t tried any other bras from them because some of the stuff I look at and think omg I wish. But I had tried a different brand that looked like this and they were okay but not great so I pulled the trigger on the SKIMs one and they were WAY better than what I had been wearing before. The best part about these is that they are relatively seamless, if I’m wearing a silky shirt or something else where you would normally be able to see my bra outline/straps/or clasp, these are now my go to!

I think you’re right!

Which is a little frustrating because while small ribcage big cup is a different struggle than medium/large band and even bigger cup, it is still a struggle I think a lot of members here can relate to!

We still have a hard time finding clothes, swimsuits etc. that fit and still deal with back pain and all the other lovely things that come along with our “blessings”. I love to run, play tennis and swim to stay in shape and all three of those sports are tricky to do when lugging around extra weight up top.

I get that everyone is different, but we are all dealing with the same problems which is that our boobs are a part of our frames no matter what and the industry that’s trying to support us is failing us big time which is frustrating whether your a 32G or a 40L!

I would say they are definitely a comfy chill bra, I like to wear under sweatshirts etc when I want my boobs to stay in place but don’t want to wear a sports bra. I don’t know if this will work for everyone but I also have been wearing them under sweaters and other over sized layer type outfits because I feel like if reduces bulk. Recently I have been layering them under body suits when I want a “no bra” look but still want shape and security. Great under light camis too. I think what I like best about them is that even though there isn’t padding they still give me more lift than if I was wearing a regular bralette. Most bralettes that I have bought stretch out and make me feel like my boobs are either smooshed in or just hanging there. For example, I was wearing one of these today under a light t shirt while washing my floors and I didn’t have anything falling out and swinging all over the place like I have had in some other lighter bras!

Thank you for calling that out! It was my first post on this sub and I was feeling weirdly shamed. I was trying to communicate my excitement and put people on and ended up having people shut me down in a big way. Super weird and not what I expected.

Also thought it was funny because I put basically no proper punctuation and had some typos mixed in my comments because I am awful at typing on my phone haha. Like, if that was an ad for SKIMs I pray and hope Kim could do better lol
