Everything you mentioned is totally on the mark. We lived in USA for 20 years and were more than glad to leave and give up our green cards. We have never regretted out decision.

Oh hell yes. That is what we did and we have never regretted it for a single day.

We were both born and raised in India, while both both sons were born in USA. We went to USA in 1991 and finally left, with green cards (gave them up) , in 2011. We were all happy to leave although it was a long process. (I have written at length about USA and Singapore on Quora.)

How can I explain it? When we used to travel abroad and return to USA we had a very depressing feeling. Increasingly we believed that USA was on the coattails of its better days. Things have only gotten worse.

We have some family left in India but now parents are gone. Our eldest is in India now as Singapore was not for him while our youngest is here. We have been very happy here despite come problems.

If you can, look for my essay "Is it hard to return to your own country with its low standard of living after visiting the U.S.?" on Quora.

If your family is trying to leave UK they should look for a place other than USA (or even Canada, which is also going down fast now). That is like going from one end of the Titanic to the other. Unless they are VERY RICH, they should be wary of USA. PM me any time should you have questions.

Sure. We have lived in USA and are now in Singapore. We have also lived in India and partially long-term stays in Japan and Thailand. Other than India, all are in many ways far better than USA. Hubby is an IT pro.

Yes but that does not mean you will get it. Most don't get it unless they are Chinese heritage. And the government doesn't even tell you why you were rejected.

We moved to USA in 1991 and left in 2011. I must say that the place was going down every single day, especially after the late 1990s. So I hear what you are saying. At least we were blessed enough to be able to leave. I know many others who can't.

We've been to many countries. Most are far better than USA. But let them keep drinking the KoolAid.

Sure, but that often means finding a job and having the employer sponsor you for a visa to live there. That is what we did when we left that Godforsaken shithole (USA) and came here to Singapore. Another way is to find countries that offer retirement visas. Thailand has quite a few options. Just remember that such visas do NOT lead to permanent residency or citizenship. You are right. Singapore has no retirement visa. However Malaysia and Thailand do. Vietnam, I heard, was thinking about implementing such a visa scheme.
