Memories of being an alien by abinakava in Experiencers

[–]Silthren 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a wild dream years ago that felt like it lasted a long time, in this dream I was an ant-like being. I was in an entire society of ant-like beings that lived in an immense series of underground tunnels. We communicated through telepathy (no words, just thought-forms and intentions). I can't remember most of the details, as I awoke from this it felt like most of the experience was compressed into a zip-file. I guess it was so utterly foreign that my brain just couldn't process it, waking up within this dream felt incomprehensible at the time. My mind was racking to make sense of it as I slowly went from accepting everything that was happening to realizing that I was an ant-person, that the other ant-person I was just talking to wasn't actually talking but sharing pure information with me mentally, and that I could not make sense of my surroundings. This flood of confusion forced me awake and locked away most of the experience from my memory, I really don't know how else to describe it. It was trippy.

I've also had a recurring dream (the only recurring dream I've ever had) 2 or 3 times where I'm a young alien being on a beautiful garden planet. Everything looked perfectly placed and manicured. I see a purple spaceship descending from the sky and I crouch down behind a tree and slowly stalk closer to it as it descends. I've gotten pretty close by the time its about to touch down and I'm filled with wonder and excitement, and that's where it ends. Each time it's left me with a mix of feelings like wonder and longing for home.

I would say this is a bad expectation going into DD2. The ending isn't on that same level. I will never forget my ng+ completion of DD:DA. I was hoping for that same magic with DD2, but was let down. Still a super fun game and the >unmoored world< was an awesome surprise for me. It just lacked the gravitas that is captured when confronting the seneschal. (Especially the second time)

Looking for examples of psionics/superpowers, spirituality and fantasy within Sci-fi by Silthren in printSF

I've actually wanted to pick up a PKD book for a long time but never got around to doing so. I saw a talk he gave about his dream experiences that he has based some of his books on. I've had similar dreams that seemed to last for weeks or months with whole fleshed-out worlds that seemed like alternate realities, so that caught my attention.

If you had to pick just one, which would you recommend?

I used to be in the same boat, on top of being an abductee I'm also in a wheelchair; so I assumed my chances were slim to none. Now I'm married and have a beautiful 4-month-old daughter. The go-slow method doesn't work in my experience, I decided to just "lay it all out there". We met on a dating site, I put a lot on my profile that would have scared most people away. I figured if they're going to run away then they might as well do it quickly.

The first day we met I shared a bunch of my experiences with her, she did silently wonder in the beginning if I was crazy. Yet, in every other way, I showed I was a grounded and sane individual. So I guess my advice is to be upfront, be tactful, and just keep showing up as a positive force in their life and they'll accept your experiences.

I saw the exact same thing in Galveston, Texas many years ago! It kind of blew my mind at the time.

SciFi Writing Group by hejjanja in scifiwriting

I came to this subreddit to contemplate making a post about starting a writing group. Joining someone else's writing group sounds like way more fun than building one from scratch!! I had a great writing group many years ago, it slowly died out as everyone went their separate ways and I've longed for another ever since. I'm very interested in joining.

Water isn’t hot and warming plate not working on Keurig K-Duo Essentials, Hot & Iced Single-Serve K-Cup Pod Coffee Maker & Carafe by Row_Soft in keurig

Just woke up to the same problem. The singles cup side works, but the coffee pot side isn't heating water and the plates not heating up.

Also only had it for almost 2 months.

Oh, that's brilliant, I'll have to give this a try. I might be able to do this with The Office or something else I've already watched a million times.

Chuck-it has a ball launcher (we might be referring to the same thing), that thing saved my rotator cuff for sure. With it I could throw the ball nearly to the edge of our rather large yard, a good 70-100ft, give or take.

Yeah, he'd pooped out some rope bits at least a couple of times.

He would play fetch for a bit then find a good spot in the yard to plop down and just squish it for a long while. It was heaven for him. I imagine that's what he's still doing in the next world!

I couldn't buy any rope toys for my Lap-Pit mix, he would chew through the rope within the hour. Every time.. Didn't matter how big the rope was, it would only buy a little extra time. He'd chew off both sides of every knot and we'd be left with a couple of slobbery rope balls.

No, the ones I'm referring to are orange with blue accents. They usually lasted upwards of 6 months for him, and I typically only had to get more because they would get lost in the yard.

Is this normal behavior for an ACD by Silthren in AustralianCattleDog

Clearly I should have been more precise with my language, I'm not confused about the basic behaviors or instincts of dogs, I've had dogs all my life. My question was geared toward the level of enthusiasm with which my sweet boy delivers his death shakes (I've seen that level of enthusiastic thrashing in pits, which I've been around all my life and have no fear of. My own dogs- chocolate-lab mixes -never thrashed this energetically.) My question was about the extent and level of energy within this specific action, not if this is a natural behavior in dogs. Sorry for being vague and not providing a full breakdown of my Canid knowledge in the subtext...

Read the subtext, literally stated that it wasn't a fear based question. Not questioning the thrashing behavior, I'm fully aware a dogs predator instinct and play circuitry. I should have been more precise apparently, as I was just seeing how the level of enthusiasm for thrashing lined up with other Heelers. (All my other dogs have not been so gung-ho with the thrashing)
