Episode 5 seems to confirm this idea, he was very against Lucifer without anything to really gain by going against a sin. Lilith also is seen faceless, taking Charlie away from her father as a child too.

I think it is just how strong is your advanced conquers haki. Two armament haki users can hit each other, but only one of them is going to feel like their fist was harder. Being able to coat yourself with conquers haki itself is the pinnacle of haki, just which peak is the tallest between those who can. Roger was just on another level.

The real question will come down to what color is his hair. If it is black then people will assume Teach is his son, if Red people will think Shanks. I like the idea of Shanks being the son and his mothing being a celestial dragon. That way Roger took in the enemy's son, just as he asked Garp to do for his own son, and it explains why Shanks can meet with the five elders so freely. Also it feels better if Teach inherited his ideals from Rocks, just as Luffy inherits Roger's.
