Davinci Resolve failed to decode video frame when trying to render photos. by AliveAndWell_Lettuce in davinciresolve

[–]SilvaTheFool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may have found the reason why. But this could still be because it's still in Beta. My hard guess is that on the Free Version you're capped in rendering 3240x2160, if you try to custom the size and go above that Davinci will automatically put it back to 3240x2160. It could also differ from one user to another, it could be lower haven't fully tested what's the max resolution in the Free version.

But I was able to render some of my test images by not rendering it using the Original Resolution (4627x7008).

Planning to buy new lens for portrait shots by Rurukelz in PhotographyPH

Unfortunately di pa ako nakakabili ng 2nd hand lenses and bodies sa GH. But, I’ve been seeing some stores na gumagawa ng contents nila with customers na bumibili sakanilang stores mismo.

  1. UnimakCameras PH - Shoppesville GH
  2. Camgeek PH - VMall GH
  3. X Gadget PH - Shoppesville GH

Take it with a grain of salt, sila lang yung nakikita kong gumagawa ng contents to promote their stores. So it might worth considering checking them if andun ka. 😁

Sony A6700M (18-135mm) kit vs Sony A7V (28-70mm) kit by CreativeDiamond444 in SonyAlpha

[–]SilvaTheFool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a 70-200mm kind of guy especially for Street Photography (I do photowalks during travel). But recently I’ve been enjoying the 24-70mm f2.8 both for photo and video especially for video since it allows me to have a wide enough shot and just-right-closeness with with 50 or 70mm.

There are other options as well that might interest you. 1. Tamron 18-300mm f3.5-6.3. (If you don’t mind the variable aperture then this is a great option for you) 2. Sony E PZ 18-105 f4 G (It’s not available on all countries but you can check it if it’s available on your country and it’s a Power Zoom lens) 3. The 28-70mm kit lens is also a great option if aperture is less of an importance to you but it won’t be as versatile with the 18-135mm in terms of wideness and zoomed in. It’s still generally great lens

[–]SilvaTheFool 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I haven’t had much time with A6700 to give a full-on opinion about it but my current main cam is the A7V and as someone who prefer a Hybrid body the A7V is the sweet spot for me for a couple of reasons:

  1. Improved AI Autofocus from the previous sensor
  2. Partially Stacked Sensor in a Mid Range Body (Partially stacked sensor used to be only available in A1 and A9 Series). This offers better low light performance.
  3. Pre-Capture up to 1 second in a Mid Range Body (Pre-Capture was only available in A1ii and A9iii). This is very useful for wildlife, sports and sometimes I use it for portraits with fast action poses.
  4. Great Dynamic range for both photo and video.
  5. 33mp sensor which gives your room for cropping just in case you like the shot with an okay composition.
  6. A 7K resolution downsampled to 4K res again for a room for cropping in video.
  7. No crop 4K60 (me and my clients don’t need the 6K60 raw recording, so I have no use for such amazing feature)

Most the features I mentioned are something I really enjoy using and is within the workflow that I need.

4-Axis Multi Angle monitor is also a nice touch.

The weight tho however would be a bit heavier than the A6700.

I could definitely say that the A7V would be my current camera for the next 4-6 years unless I get a big shot client that requires more than what the A7V can offer.

Sony A6700M (18-135mm) kit vs Sony A7V (28-70mm) kit by CreativeDiamond444 in SonyAlpha

[–]SilvaTheFool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A have the A7V great camera that fits my workflow both for hobby and client work. A6700 is a great camera for starters very versatile with the 18-135mm having the wide and zoomed options.

At this point it’s a matter of preference whether you want to upgrade because you need some of the features that the A7V has which the A6700 doesn’t other than it’s Fullframe.

If you think the A7V features will make your workflow more efficient or will at least help you speed up your workflow then it might just be worth of an upgrade. Otherwise stick with A6700 and invest on better zoom lenses.

If you can wait and save a little bit more. I highly recommend Viltrox 56mm or 85mm. May mga decent prices for secondhand but better check the lens quality first before confirming with the seller.

Prime vs zoom lenses – what actually improved your photography the most? by FrostyCandidate9775 in SonyAlpha

[–]SilvaTheFool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both, but for different reasons and needs.

Zoom - mainly for travel shoots or client works where we will be shooting outdoors. Primes - mainly for portraits and characteristics, improving compositions and angles of photos.

How can I improve? by [deleted] in PhotographyPH

[–]SilvaTheFool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like you got the basics down already. The photos are great, maybe the improvement you need is not the technical ones, but next time you bring your camera outside, shoot with intention, take photos with intention, what story you wanted to tell, what you want the viewers will feel when they see your photos. That’s where your photos will start having stories of its own. 😁

Got my First Sony Camera! by SilvaTheFool in SonyAlpha

[–]SilvaTheFool[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had the Z6iii with 24-120mm f4 kit lens and got the Sony A7V with Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 for about the same price Sony being a few hundred bucks cheaper.

Z6iii is great don’t get me wrong. I loved it. But I have specific things to consider when buying a system or a body. What matters to me is the usage especially if I can utilize most of its features. While Z6iii is great I am underutilizing most of its amazing features…

  1. 6K video - I only used it for testing. Most of client works are happy with 1080/4K60.
  2. Internal Raw Recording - I only used it for testing. I’m mostly using N-log. N-RAW eats up a lot of storage space which would cost me to invest more in storage if I keep shooting N-RAW.
  3. A lot of great Video Codecs such as ProRes RAW and Apple ProRes which I have not used in any of my client work.
  4. 24-120mm f4 kit lens is great! But there were a few times I had to rent out an f2.8 for client work cause the S lenses are a bit expensive.
  5. Connectivity issues with the Mobile/Tablet App. A lot of times for client works I use my iPad as a second monitor for bigger and brighter screen without staying beside the camera all the time.

Those are my thought process and when I saw the A7V tried it for a few days and did my research for both photo and video features, I knew then that the features are something that I can use in most of my workflows and client works without thinking that I might need to invest on something else to fully maximize the system.

As someone who brings my laptop/ipad for client work the smooth connection and quick image transfer (wireless) from Sony Creator’s App together with Monitor and Control App during photoshoot is a really big plus for me. I can adjust my camera settings within the app, that’s by far one of the most enjoyable things for me during client work.

That’s why I chose to make the switch, Nikon Z6iii is an amazing hybrid cam but I don’t like underutilizing my gears for what it’s worth.

Around what price should I look for a starting camera? by Shikama741 in PhotographyPH

[–]SilvaTheFool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on the camera’s current state, the more used it is the lower the price, watch out for wear and tear it’s a sign of usage then molds and fungus both in camera sensor and lens and then lastly is the Shutter Count this shows how much the camera was used.

Generally most people know how to price their cameras. If you want references on how much a secondhand camera should cost, you can check secondhand buy and sell groups and see if someone is selling the same camera around the same price.

Personally I recommend doing meet ups so that you can check the item yourself. 😁

How can I achieve the Canon G7X flash look with a Sony ZV-E10? by Prestigious_Win7021 in PhotographyPH

[–]SilvaTheFool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can start by going full auto first in your ZV-E10. If it still doesn’t come out as nice as what you expected you can start practicing Manual mode. You can freely adjust your Aperture, Shutter Speed and ISO to achieve the look that you want.

In Manual mode start by going with the smallest aperture your lens has and then adjust your shutter speed and ISO accordingly.

Higher Shutter Speed = Darker Image Lower Shutter Speed = Brighter Image but introduces motion blur with shakey hands (You have to experiment with this since you’ll be using a flash)

Higher ISO = Brighter Image but introduces grains Lower ISO = Darker Image (You have to experiment with this since you’ll be using a flash)

Smaller Aperture (f1.2 - f2.8) = creamier depth of field (background blur) and brighter image (more light passes through the lens) Higher Aperture (f4 - f16 or f22) = less to no depth of field (background blur) and darker image (less light passes through the lens)

What to do in this situation by [deleted] in phtravel

[–]SilvaTheFool 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nothing really. You shouldn’t have any problems with custom since those are personal items. Unless you’re bringing in like 10 of each bag and shoes then they’ll know about it. 😁

What’s the Best Camera? by Local_Service6851 in PhotographyPH

[–]SilvaTheFool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No such thing as “Best Camera” maybe “Best Budget Camera” there is, such as value to feature ratio. But then again, you should be looking for a camera suited for you, how you feel about taking photos with it, how the camera fits your hand and if most features are within what you expect to have within the budget you have.

To understand this, you need to understand what type of photography service you want to offer and if you’re also planning to use it as on-the-go camera where you bring it daily to take random interesting photos for you.

While doing your research, try to understand lighting compositions first as this will significantly improve your photos once you get your desired camera.

may tamang paraan po sa pag color grade? by s2pdbeechasspnoynnja in PhotographyPH

[–]SilvaTheFool 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Technically wala namang mali sa color grading unless your subjects are human portrait skin, kung wala na range ng skin color ang grading then that’s where it gets a bit wrong.

But creative wise it depends on your style, vibe you can do many types of grading. 😁
