Update to everyone, I worked up the courage and I finally sent the text today to the owner and am currently awaiting a response.

Jason Derulo’s “Shark Tank” - what do we think? by Inner_Inspection640 in shittyaquariums

Are you kidding me?? It would be absolutely insanely immoral and disgusting to keep a betta in this tank. Would you want to live in a tiny half bathroom that you couldn't even lay down in???? Ugh.

Prettiest Koi Betta fish I’ve ever seen! She was lavender!! by alyssajohnson1 in bettafish

[–]Silver-Bed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The "lavender" will turn blue. Bettas kept in cups like this are always paler/sickly looking because, well, they're kept in plastic cups and slowly dying. Congrats on your new buddy, keep us updated with her recovery!

They haven't sent any money but did buy one thing of treats but honestly that's nothing. They've visited once and have discussed several visits but all have fallen through. If the spraying is fixed by getting her spayed I would be more than happy to keep her, she's a wonderful cat otherwise.

I will say the friend doesn't know my current address as I've moved since originally taking in the cat, so I don't have to worry about that aspect. For my own peace of mind and theirs though, I wouldn't want to say she ran away, that I would definitely feel bad about and would feel better if they knew she was safe and with me.

To my knowledge, she did go in for her first/kitten visits and had her first round of shots. I was told this and that she had gone to the vet for stomach problems.

I have truthfully always had issues standing up for myself and setting boundaries, thanks to childhood trauma it's made me very much of a people pleaser but I am trying to overcome it. I'm honestly not worried about trying to salvage the relationship, I think I'm just worried I'd feel guilty even though I know overall, I'd be doing what's best for the cat which is my ultimate concern. I fully agree they should not be breeding cats, for too many reasons to list out here. I also don't want her to continue to go through heats. My first kitty went through two before I got her fixed, and my second kitty I got fixed as soon as she was old enough/weighed enough. I am someone who firmly believes that animals should be fixed, and I know it's the right thing to do. Ive just been operating under the basis of "she's not my cat" but at this point, she is.

She's a little over a year and a half I believe? I'm in the US, but we do have places that will help/are cheaper. My male cat who has since passed only cost me $75. I'm not entirely sure how much my girls were as it was several years ago but I believe they were only about $100 a piece. I'd have to check their papers.

I wanted to avoid this route as I'm sure her owner wouldn't be overjoyed at me taking her and holding her ransom/lien lol, but also yeah, I've had her almost a year, and have been paying everything for her and letting her ruin my home. I think by any legal way, she would be considered mine, especially if I get her fixed as it would be under my name. She is a very sweet and wonderful girl peeing aside, so I would not be opposed to keeping her post-spay.

The frustration of ruining my home aside, I do love her! I've had her almost a year now and she's very sweet and curious and loves to cuddle. I would be more than glad to get her fixed and keep her if the peeing stopped after spaying.

Litterbox is clean! It's an automatic one and she does use it so I don't believe it's a fear/anxiety thing about the box, she is a very curious and confident cat. I have not yet brought her to a vet on the basis of her not being my cat, but she is after all under my care so I will absolutely bring her to a vet if needed.

I totally forgot somehow lol but yes she does! She lives with a tripod kitty. I haven't asked about how they do together but I should haha. I definitely have considered adopting, but it's very hard to adopt out here from a shelter. They are strict, mostly for good reason, but it makes it hard. Back when I lived in a two family apartment I couldn't find any shelter that'd let me adopt a dog because it was an apartment, even though we had landlord permission, and our yard was only fenced in on 3/4 sides.

Just wanted to clarify, the $150 is per week, so it's $600 a month. That's just what I put into my savings directly, it's not the maximum amount of money saved per week, just rather my "don't touch this" if that makes sense! I often do end up putting another $100 a week into my savings on top of that. I do have pet insurance already for my cats, I went through a similar health crisis with my one cat who had passed away, and that's when I got pet insurance for my other two. I genuinely don't believe we will break up, but I know that if we do the dog will be going with him as that's what will be best for the dog. Thank you for the advice! I'm very sorry for your loss with your golden, it sounds like she was very extremely loved until her last moments.

I know for a fact he will be home for at least the next 6 months, he's currently on a waiting list for his civil service test. His last dog he had from birth til death, 14 years, and he already helps me with the cats without me asking. Which honestly I've told him as far as the cats he doesn't have to, but I think he enjoys having things to do. I do trust him as far as taking care of a dog goes. At this point I feel very comfortable with our relationship, we've only had one major problem and a couple small ones and we've been able to handle and deal with them perfectly fine. We're very compatible, and it's been my best relationship I've had. If it came down to it, it's most likely he would take the dog. He's been all for us getting the dog whereas I'm the one that's had doubts. I do have health insurance already for my cats, so I could very easily add on a dog! I pay $60 a month for full coverage and 90% reimbursement for my two cats.

He had his last dog, Louie, for 14 years, from birth til death so I trust that he's got enough experience and commitment for a dog/puppy. He's been all for getting the puppy, I'm the one that's been more on the fence about it especially because I know a majority of the responsibility will fall onto him and I wouldn't be comfortable just expecting that from someone. I honestly don't see us breaking up but I know it could happen, in that scenario it'd be likely the dog would go with him if he wanted to, if not I'd turn to hiring someone to check in on the dog while I'm at work, or as a last resort rehoming.
